Still Getting Ready for the Weekend!

My allergies have been really bad for a while now.  It’s worst in the morning.  My nose is really runny and I have to blow it like 30 times.  It’s pathetic.  My poor nose!  I also have that post nasal drip that causes me to clear my throat every five minutes.  I know a lot of people have been suffering, because I’ve heard others complain, and my friends have also told me their allergies are bothering them, but I was kind of hoping for a “San Diego Miracle.”  My allergy doctor told me that sometimes when people move their symptoms will disappear, but it’s only temporary and they eventually come back.  I would have settled for temporary!

They were pretty much the same all across the country, until we got to Arizona, where they got REALLY bad.  I always thought a dry environment would be better for me, since I’m allergic to mold, but Eric says dry is more dusty, and I’m also allergic to dust!  I can’t win!

Anyway, I woke up at 5:00am sneezing and had to blow my nose and I couldn’t fall back to sleep for over an hour.  I woke up again at 8:00am and that was it – no more sleep today!

I got up and immediately started working on my typing project.  At 10:00am I woke Eric up to watch THE VIEW.  It’s kind of getting to be a habit with us, which will end as soon as I go back to work (boo hoo).  I am REALLY spoiled, because I got to spend most of every day for the last six months with my husband.  How many non-retired people get to do that?  It’s been such a luxury to be together, not working, and get to enjoy little things like watching THE VIEW.  We love HOT TOPICS in the beginning, where they argue about current events and gossip about celebrities.  It’s really fun.

I kept typing until I went to do laundry.  I did another four loads – three blankets, all the linens from our bed, and some clothes, too.  Eric walked me down with it all, since it was so heavy with all the linens and blankets.  I figure it’s not mean to use all four machines at once when it’s a Wednesday afternoon, because most people are at work.  The machines run for 37 minutes, so I go back after a half hour, so I’m sure to be there when they finish.  I put them into the four dryers and came back up.  Then, I went down to pick up three of the loads.  The only stuff that wasn’t dry were Eric’s jeans (3 pairs).  Blue jeans take a LONG time to dry, don’t they?  The blankets were all dry!

Eric left to go to ACE HARDWARE to buy some supplies to put the legs on my desk.  As I mentioned before, we had originally made it with six boxes, which we covered with fabric, but now it looks exactly the same, but there are wooden legs in each corner and I can actually unpack the six boxes that were underneath!

I went back into the city this afternoon for another interview at an employment agency.  It went very well and I think I made a good impression!  It amazes me how I can be in the heart of Downtown San Diego, amid all the hubbub and excitement, and then – just a few miles down I-5 and 10 minutes later, I’m back in the quiet suburb of Clairemont!  It’s SO cool!

I stopped at on the way home KEILS and picked up everything for a big salad, and also some turkey and Swiss for Eric.  I made him a big salad with some leftover chicken cut up into it, and added a new ingredient – black beans.  It’s supposed to be very healthy and adds protein to a vegetarian diet!  I also made my own dressing, instead of a bottled dressing, or just oil and vinegar.  I mixed my balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, a little honey mustard, a little garlic, a little mayonnaise and shook up the bottle real good.  It tasted deliciousd, if I do say so myself!

After dinner, I got to work in the master bedroom.  I had unpacked all my artwork, but there were only a few pieces I wanted to hang, most of them in the master bedroom.  I hung up the black velvet board with the silver frame that holds all my rhinestone pins.  It looks really pretty.

Rhinestone pins

I also noticed that I could hang something from each of the brackets holding up all the shelves.  I went on eBay and ordered 6” Ball Chain Key Chains with 2.4mm beads, so that I could put a purse through, hang it up and then close the clasp.  They arrived today, so I was excited to start that project.  All my larger purses are on the shelves, but the little ones, especially the mesh bags and beaded bags, either won’t stand up themselves or are too delicate to stand on the shelf, so they’re better off hanging.

One of my favorite purses, covered in rhinestones, now hangs from a shelf bracket:

I also hung up a fantastic collage my dear friend, Elizabeth, created for me.  She is an amazing collage artist and I got to see many of her pieces, because she used to have them framed by the guy who had the framing store next to my shop.  That’s how she first found my shop, and we have become very good friends.  I was blessed in 2004 when she gave me one of her creations for my birthday.  It hung over our bed in Whitestone and I would have put it there again, except our bed is under a window, so it’s on a wall next to the bed.

Eric and I are so lucky, because a lot of our best friends are people I met through the shop, who the became a big part of our lives.  That is probably the most wonderful thing that I got out of the entire PEPPY’S DREAM experience.  A lot of the people I met there will be a part of my life forever!

I finally stopped hanging at 9:30pm, because I realized it was after “quiet time” and there I was, hammering away!  I came back into the living room, where Eric was watching his ULTIMATE FIGHTING, and worked on the computer until it was time to go back in the bedroom and watch KITCHEN NIGHTMARES with GORDON RAMSAY, which I had recorded so Eric and I could watch it together.  It’s a hoot!

Tomorrow – I must unpack the six boxes that were underneath the desk.  I know a lot of them are books, and have NO idea where I’m going to put them (they’re too heavy to go on the shelves), so they’ll probably just stay in the boxes for now.  We just don’t have enough room to unpack everything!
