A Beautiful Day For Errands And Chores!

Eric and I got up around 9:30am.  He still had a headache.  I felt so bad for him.  We relaxed in bed and watched THE VIEW.  I called APPLE ONE, because they said they were going to set up an interview.  Nothing to report.  They said they'd call me as soon as something was scheduled.

I made Eric a NUTRISYSTEM breakfast.  He had the same scrambled eggs as I had yesterday, but his had veggie sausage bits in it.  I put it on a slice of bread (he’s allowed the carbs; I’m not) with a piece of low fat cheddar cheese and a glass of V8.  He liked it!  I had a cranberry muffin loaf and a slice of low-fat cheddar cheese (which was my serving of dairy).  The muffin was pretty good!

I wanted to run some errands and Eric wanted to wash the car.  Since he didn’t feel well, I said I would go first and then he could wash the car when I got back.  They’re still working on the street outside our apartment, so we haven’t been able to park on this side of Clairemont Drive for over a week.  Today they poured the cement for the new sidewalk.  It looked so nice.  They really did a great job.  They cut back all the roots, so it wouldn’t break up the sidewalk, trimmed all the giant pine trees, and then they poured the new sidewalk.  I’m pretty sure they’ll be done tomorrow.

A possum got killed crossing the street and it was right in front of my car.  I almost tripped over it when I was walking to my car, because I was so busy looking at the work they were doing.  Yuck!

I went to Citibank to get quarters for laundry (which I did this afternoon) and then went to TJ MAXX.  I had seen a comforter set I really liked, but I wanted to discuss it with Eric before making a purchase.  I thought it would go perfectly in our bedroom.    We didn’t have a bedspread or comforter to make the bed.  I was walking around the bedding department yesterday when I bought the pillows for the girls. I saw a set that was very Asian-inspired.  It was red satin with embroidered butterflies and flowers.  I loved it.  I thought it would look beautiful with the chocolate brown headboard (which we are expecting any day now).  Eric said to go for it, so I did!

Happy Nails

Happy Nails

After TJ MAXX I went to a place called HAPPY NAILS to get a pedicure.  It was a huge place with lots of manicure chairs (two different areas, set in a circle) and tons of manicure tables, too.  I didn’t have an appointment, but they were able to take me immediately.  They were really nice there and did a great job.  Since it’s very close to home, this will definitely be my new place to go for a manicure or pedicure.

After my pedicure I went home.  I wanted to show Eric the comforter set.  He was up and about, working on his bicycle.  He had it in pieces on the floor and was cleaning and maintaining it (Mr. Maintenance).  I thought that was a great sign.  The fact that he’s even touching his bicycles is a positive step!

Comforter

I showed him the comforter and he really liked it.  The set was $80 -- $86 with tax.  I thought that was pretty cheap for a Queen comforter, bed skirt and two shams.  I opened it up.  The reverse is solid red and it had a long rip along one seam.  I was so disappointed.  I told Eric I could easily sew it, because it was on the seam, but I wasn’t going to do it unless they gave me a discount.  I packed it back up and went back out to TJ MAXX.  They were REALLY nice about it.  They gave me a full credit of the $86 and then charged me $50.  With tax it was only $53, so I saved $33.  I thought that was a bargain, considering I knew it would probably take me 10 minutes to sew it up!

I did four loads of laundry while Eric washed the car in the parking lot.  Then, he helped me put the red satin bed skirt on.  It’s so elegant, because it has those fabric frogs in each corner and in the middle on each side.  There is a thick satin rope on each corner of the comforter that is tied into a knot.  The same thick satin rope is around the shams.  Then, I remade the bed with the linens I just washed.  The bed looks so pretty.  I’m sure the girls will love it when they see it tomorrow night!

For those of you who are saying "What the heck is a fabric frog?" -- this is it!  It's used as a closure on Asian clothing and accessories.

Fabric Frog

I made dinner for us.  Eric had a salad with CHICKEN PASTA PARMESAN.  I had a salad with VEGETABLE LASAGNA WITH BASIL TOMATO SAUCE.  They were both really good.  We agreed that eating this food is no problem at all.  We don’t feel deprived at all.  I’m thrilled, because it’s all so fast and easy.

Eric continued working on his bicycle.  He was cleaning the tires, polishing metal parts, and waxing the frame.  I am hoping with all this maintenance that he will ride it very soon.

I watched UGLY BETTY and sewed the comforter.  It really did take me just 10 minutes.  It looks SO pretty.  I love anything Asian inspired and it is just the punch of color that the room needed.  I hope the headboard comes tomorrow.  That would be perfect!

After UGLY BETTY I watched CELEBRITY APPRENTICE.  Gene Simmons got fired.  He’s a weird guy and his hair is even worse than the Donald’s!  After that I watched PRISON BREAK.  I really got caught up with my shows tonight!

Tomorrow I am going to clean, clean, clean, because my girls are coming.  It really should not take long, because the apartment is so small and we keep it so neat to begin with.  I just want everything to be perfect.  This is going to be a great weekend!
