I woke up at 8:00am this morning. I’ve been setting my alarm for 8:00am every morning, so that I get used to waking up a little earlier, but I didn’t set it for today and I woke up early anyway! It was finally raining. They’ve been threatening all week and it finally started. No biggie. It wasn’t even pouring, just a nice, steady rain, which you would think they’d be thrilled about here, considering we ARE in a desert!

Eric woke up soon after and went right into the shower. I was talking to my friend, Jimmy, on the phone, when the bell rang – and it was a package for me. Actually, it was addressed to Jimmy c/o me. Jimmy won a BEDAZZLER in an online contest and generously gave it to me!
Here’s his bedazzling entry:
Right off the bat I'd Bedazzle a portrait of David Bowie on my favorite Levi jacket. I think his looks on 'Aladdin Sane' and/or 'Scary Monsters' would translate best in sparkle magic. Because I have very little artistic talent when it comes to rendering the likeness of a rock GOD in rhinestones, it'll probably look more like a day camp crafts project done by Corky from 'Life Goes On.' BUT I'LL know it's David. Oh yes. I'll know.
He's so funny and I'm always telling him he's a great writer, so it's no wonder he won. He asked me if I would use it and I told him I’d love it. So, he had them ship it to him here. I can’t wait to try it! I know I will be able to do something fabulous with it. After all, I AM Sparkle Plenty! Thanks, Jimmy!
I got the original cast recording of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, which I would love to see on Broadway. Boo hoo! I'll have to wait for the National Tour to come to San Diego (or Los Angeles!). I also saw ROLL IN THE HAY performed on Letterman with Roger Bart and Sutton Foster. It was great.
After Eric’s shower, he came into the living room all dressed. I asked him why he bothered getting all dressed when it was raining out (I assumed we were spending the day inside). All he said was “Pancakes.” “What?” I asked. “Pancakes,” he repeated. Turns out, he wanted to go to IHOP. I explained to him that I was trying to diet. It was bad enough that I had bread AND spaghetti with dinner; bad enough that we walked to 7-Eleven last night to get ice cream.

He explained that once we start on NUTRISYSTEM the party is over, so he wanted to have pancakes for breakfast. I told him he was sabotaging my diet, but I really have no one to blame but myself.
I put on my leopard rain slicker and my black galoshes and we went to IHOP in Pacific Beach. It was coming down pretty hard, but not teeming or anything like that.
The place was IHOP-ping! I guess everyone else had the same idea. Eric got the pancakes with 2 scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns. I got the chocolate chip pancakes. There really aren’t a heck of a lot good choices at IHOP, except this one dish that’s egg substitute with veggies and pancakes with low-calorie syrup. Eric said, “Just get the chocolate chip pancakes.” And I obeyed. I am happy to report that I only ate half and took the rest home. Okay, I’m not proud of myself, but at least I didn’t eat the whole thing!
When we got back we watched an episode of MONK I had recorded from the marathon the other day. It was from the first season, which I had only seen once and Eric had never seen. We really enjoyed it.
After that, he went into the living room to watch a marathon of his own – football. There were two games on today and Eric watched them both – all day long! I took a nap. I don’t know why I was so tired, but I think some of it was due to the rainy weather. I woke up at 3:30pm – I had slept for almost three hours! Even for me, that’s a long nap!
Now, I was ready to get to work! I wanted to make the two frames for pins. I had the brown velvet, which looks so nice with the gold wood. Eric helped me work on the two frames and then he and I made dinner.

The back of the pin boards, covered with vintage drawer liner paper. I think it gives it a nice finishing touch!

I had a salad and he made himself chicken cutlet parmigiana and also had my leftover eggplant parmigiana from last night.
Since he was STILL watching football, I ate in the bedroom while I watched the first episode of CELEBRITY APPRENTICE, which I had recorded. It was pretty good. I always enjoyed the regular APPRENTICE shows, so I figured this would be entertaining, too. It didn’t disappoint.
After dinner I finished the two frames. They came out great. I am hoping to sell them both.
A close-up of the two gold frames. I think they'll be a beautiful addition to any boudoir!

Our friend, Jerry, called. He is staying in Malibu and we are going to spend next weekend with him. We visited him in Chicago on our RV Adventure, now we’ll be visiting him in Malibu! I will also be going to see WICKED with my cousin, Ilene on Saturday afternoon. It should be a great weekend. We’re hoping the weather is better next weekend than this!
Our other friend, Geri, called. Wow! What are the chances? We spoke for a while and then I came back out to the living room to hang out with Eric. The football games were finally over and we watched some regular TV together.
Since he didn’t have a nap, Eric went to bed at 10:00pm, but I was still rarin’ to go. I worked on the computer and watched TV. I’m shopping for a headboard. The vertical blinds in the bedroom are driving me CRAZY. We need to buy a headboard that attaches to the frame, so we can pull the bed away from the wall a little and still have something to lean against. I’d rather make one, but it would be a lot of work, and he said if I could find something I liked to just buy it instead. I like padded and tufted headboards. They’re comfy and elegant. I found exactly what I was looking for and I may just order it tomorrow!
