Our Girls Go Home (Boo Hoo)!

The girls were all up by 5:15am.  We let Eric sleep.  Jessica and April jumped in the shower, got dressed and were ready to roll.  I just washed my face, brushed my teeth and put on the clothes I had laid out the night before, so I would be ready.

We left the house at 5:45am and I dropped them off a few minutes after 6:00am.  I was so sorry to see them go.  We had a GREAT time and I wish all my girls could come and visit – even if it’s just for a few days.  It’s just so nice to show them San Diego!

I was home and back in bed by 6:25am.  Eric’s only comment was, “That was fast!” and we were both back to sleep.  We woke up at 11:00am.  Wow!  We REALLY slept in!  We showered, had a fast NUTRISYSTEM breakfast bar and left the apartment around 12:30pm.  We had some errands to run.  Eric bought tires for one of his bicycles which are better for road riding.  I was SO happy, because that meant he would be riding more.  I know he wouldn't invest in the tires if he didn't plan to use them!  He dropped me at STARBUCKS, which is in the same shopping center as the bicycle store.  We made a few more stops and got back to the apartment a little after 3:00pm.

I made us a delicious lunch of all the leftovers from my dinner with the girls at KEMO SABE on Saturday night.  Eric didn’t go with us, but he sure did get to enjoy it all anyway!  He had Jessica’s leftover halibut with noodles and a fried wonton and April’s chicken with potatoes and fried plaintain.  I had my leftover tuna with the salad it came with.  Delish!

Then, we watched Friday’s new episode of MONK, which was really great.  After that, I did three loads of laundry, including all the towels and sheets that the girls had used.  By the time that was all finished it was after 8:00pm and time for dinner.

I heated up our leftovers from last night’s dinner at GRINGO’S.  Eric had his leftover chicken, potatoes and veggies, and I had Jessica’s leftover shrimp burrito and some salad.

For dessert, we each had a NUTRISYSTEM Chocolate Chip cookie.  It was really moist and chewy.  I loved it!  I also had a DIET LEMON SNAPPLE tonight.  My first in six months!  I had purchased four for the girls, because I know they like that, but they only had two and I figured I might as well use them.  I actually didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would.  I used to be addicted to DIET LEMON SNAPPLE, drinking 3 or 4 bottles a DAY.

Eric never liked me drinking so much SNAPPLE, because he said I was using too much artificial sweetener, so when we left NY, I left the DIET SNAPPLE behind.  I drank more water in the 15 weeks we traveled than I probably did the last 10 years.  I would occasionally drink an unsweetened ice tea with a meal, but I used only one splenda or equal, so I cut down considerably.  I also use them in coffee, but I didn’t drink that every day.  I wish I could cut out artificial sweeteners completely, but I like things sweet and don’t want to use real sugar, so that’s my only option!

After dinner, Eric agreed to put up the new headboard.  It was a big pain, but we finally got it done.  Why is every project so much more complicated than you think it will be?  Isn’t that one of Murphy’s Laws?  We got it done and it looks SO beautiful and feels SO great, because now when you lean the pillows against it, you don’t hit the vertical blinds and you don’t feel the wall behind it.  When you put the red Asian-inspired sham up against it, the sham really pops and looks FABULOUS.  I’m so happy!

After that was done, Eric relaxed in the living room and watched basketball and ultimate fighting (ugh) and I watched DEAL OR NO DEAL and MEDIUM.  I’m hoping that I’ll get a call this week about work.

My nieces were SO sweet, because I was getting really down about work and told them I was upset because I didn’t have a job yet.  They asked me how long I was looking and I told them just since January.  They said, “That’s only 3 weeks.  It can take months to find a job.  How can you be depressed after 3 weeks?”  I had to admit, it made sense.  I guess I had such confidence that I thought I’d be hired in 3 days, let alone 3 weeks.  It better not take 3 months!
