Working and Looking For Work!

Another morning, another cold toilet seat.  We were showered and out of the house by 7:15am.  No traffic in the morning, which is so nice.  Today I wore a flowered, pleated skirt that I wore when I did my first cabaret act, back in 1991.  Yes, the skirt is 17 years old.  Can you believe it?  At least it still fits.  Why?  Because it has an ELASTIC WAIST.  You better not be laughing at me!

Eric dropped me off and went job hunting, while I went upstairs for my third day at work.  He did a lot of driving around, filling out applications and dropping off applications.  He even got to talk to someone in person!  He said he had an "interview" and it went very well.  Eric's very much like me.  Maybe not so great on paper, but when you see him and talk to him, you can see he has a lot to offer!

For breakfast I had a NUTRISYSTEM muffin with some grapes.  I got a lot accomplished in the morning.  I had a couple of projects to do, and thought the morning was speeding by, but when I looked at the clock, it was just 9:40am!  What?  How could that possibly be?  Was I trapped in a time warp?  The rest of the day was the same.  Really weird.  Even though I was moderately busy, and it felt like the day was going by, the hours just dragged by.  I would be SURE an hour had passed, look at the clock and it was only 20 minutes.

At noon I had a tiny cottage cheese with grape tomatoes and NUTRISYSTEM vegetable chowder.  I couldn’t even finish the chowder.  I’ve also been drinking something called FUZE – low carb, with L-Carnitine, Super Citrimax, Chromium and Vitamin C.  They have lots of flavors, but today it was Cranberry Raspberry.  There are only 5 calories per serving.  It tastes like Kool-Aid, but it’s mostly just water and a little juice.  I try to drink a cup of water every couple of hours, since there’s a water dispenser in the kitchen area on my floor and the ladies’ room is not far either!

I’ve been organizing two empty but messy cubicles for the past two days.  I’m almost done.  One is completely finished and it looks FABULOUS.  I can’t wait for my boss to see it, when he comes back from work.  He’s very cute.  When I talked to him in San Francisco, he said, “I know it’s not a very sexy job, but we really appreciate your taking it on.”  I thought that was a cute way of saying he knows it’s a dirty job!

The other cubicle required me using a P-Touch Label Maker, which is really fun.  I told the guy that lent it to me that he’s not getting it back, because it’s my new favorite toy!  Everything looks so nice and organized with the P-Touch!

Five o’clock finally arrived and I zipped out of there to meet Eric.  He had the brakes checked, because when we got the second key made, the guy at Chrysler said the brakes needed to be done.  Turns out, the guy was a big liar, because the guy who checked them today (with Eric watching) said the front brakes were new, and the back were fine for at least another thousand miles!  I told Eric if he was a regular consumer, who doesn’t know a good brake from a bad brake, that first guy would have ripped him off!  Isn't that discouraging?

Eric also washed and waxed the car.  The finish is like a pearl, so it really glows and sparkles with a good wax job.  It looked beautiful!

We came right home and I made a nice salad for each of us.  Eric also had the NUTRISYSTEM meatballs with pasta, and I had the tiny cup of tortellini in tomato sauce.  For dessert Eric a NUTRISYSTEM oatmeal cookie and I had a Chocolate Peanut Butter bar.  You know that’s my favorite combination!

I finally sewed the button on my jacket last night, while I watched TV.  What an accomplishment!  I have so much laundry to do, but it will probably wait until Friday night or Saturday morning.  Eric did his own laundry this week, so it’s mostly my clothes that need to be done.  I told Eric to let me do all the laundry, but he insisted.

I have NO idea what I’m going to wear tomorrow.  I really don’t have a hell of a lot of clothes for the office, since I’m still not fitting into a lot and I don’t have much “work clothes” to begin with.  I wanted to save a nice outfit for Friday, because my boss won't be in tomorrow, but he will be in on Friday and I want to look as professional as possible.

I’ve noticed that the dress in the office is definitely not “corporate.”  Most of the girls wear slacks and tops or sweaters, but I’ve seen girls wearing leggings and big tops, skirts with no stockings, and skirts with stockings. They also wear tights and boots -- either snow-style boots or high-heeled boots.  I only have one pair of boots -- black rubber rain boots!  I didn't bring any boots to San Diego, because I thought no one would wear winter clothes, but they do!

Anyway, I figure I can get away with a lot more than I thought, if I could just FIT INTO IT!
Oh, I forgot to mention: I forgot to weigh myself yesterday, but I did weigh myself this morning and I weighed in at 129.  If I can just stay under 130, I’ll be thrilled!  I’ve been doing a lot of walking and standing the last 3 days, so I know I’ve been more active than I am at home.  That’s good.  I’ve also been eating a little less, because when I was home I made sure I ate every thing I was allowed, but now I’m eating less, because I’m having breakfast and lunch at the office and now I eat at my desk.  I’m bringing veggies and fruit to snack on, so at least I’m not starving myself!

Well, I better go.  I need to get to bed early.  I hope to have more to do tomorrow at work.  The day definitely flies by when I’m kept really busy!
