Eric had to go to work this morning, but wasn’t sure he’d actually get to work. The boss told him to come in today – and he had to be there by 6:15am, but he was just supposed to go in to see if there was any work. Sound crazy? It does to me, too! Or, as my friend Susan put it, “What kind of cockamamie job is that?”
He was going to take the RV, because I had the acupuncture appointment at 6:00pm and he couldn’t be sure he would be home in time, so he left me the car (dear boy). He came back at 5:30am to let me know that the battery on the RV was dead (don’t know if I mentioned before that there was some kind of short with the RV) and he had to take the car.
I couldn’t fall back to sleep, so I was up from 4:30am, although I did lie in bed and toss and turn until 6:00pm. Nice!
I got a ride to work and it was a great day today. I was pretty busy, so the day passed pretty quickly. I called Eric in the late morning to see what the story was and he was already home. There was no work today, but the guy told him to come back on Wednesday, only he has to start at 5:30am, because they have to be out of the building by 1:30am. That means he’d have to get up at 3:30am, leave at 4:30am and get to work by 5:30am. Cockamamie, I say!
Anyway, he had the afternoon to work on the RV. He disconnected and lugged the battery up to the apartment to recharge it. He said he’s pretty sure the problem is with the battery, because he couldn’t get it to fully charge and it’s 5 years old, so he’s going to replace it and hope that the problem is solved.
I got a ride home and was dropped off at 5:15pm. I didn’t have to be at the doctor until 6:00pm. I told Eric I would just jump in the car and head right to the doctor by myself, but I had a little time, so I went up to the apartment. Eric wasn’t there, and his bicycles were all there, so I couldn’t figure out where he could be. I figured maybe he was in the parking lot still working on the RV, but I didn’t have time to go check.
I went to get in the car and was shocked to see Eric sitting in the driver’s seat, reading his book. He didn’t want me to drive by myself to the doctor, so he was waiting in the car for me to come home. Sweet boy!
He took me to Hillcrest to the office and waited outside with his book while I had my appointment. First I had to fill out a bunch of forms (I swear, Eric and I have filled out more forms in the last 3 months than we did in the last 3 years!). Then, I had to get undressed (except for bra and panties) and get under a sheet on a massage table. He examined me by taking my pulse (on both wrists -- several times), feeling my foot, asking me all sorts of questions about my sleep habits, my diet – anything you could think of.
Then he started sticking the needles in me. I knew he was doing it, but I couldn’t really feel anything. It didn’t hurt at all. He put one in my left leg, one in my right foot (the problem I was seeking treatment for), one in my right hand and one in my stomach!
Like I said, I couldn’t feel it at all. He was so sweet and pleasant and talked to me and explained everything to me the whole time. He said it may take as many as 10 treatments to see an improvement and I told him I was very patient. I explained to him that I went to my holistic podiatrist for an entire year – 12 months – but never really had great results. My foot has gotten worse, and he explained a lot about how the body works. He actually thinks my problem isn’t just about my foot, but involves other parts of the body – it’s just that the symptom is in my foot.
He burned some kind of herb (that I told Eric smelled exactly like pot) and put it very close to my foot so I could feel the heat of it, but it didn’t burn. It was really interesting and relaxing. I felt very comfortable with him and he seemed filled with positive energy. In all, it was a very pleasant experience and I hope it helps! If anyone out there has had a positive response to acupuncture, I’d sure like to hear about it!\
After I was done I made another appointment for next Monday and left. We drove home and I made us both NUTRISYSTEM thin crust pizzas and some of my ultra-delicious veggie soup (if I do say so myself). I swear that soup is SO good!
For dessert I had a NUTRISYSTEM almond biscotti cookie and watched Dr. Phil’s 1000th show!
Tomorrow night I have a dentist appointment – I’m getting fixed up head to toes – literally!
I have a half-day on Friday, because this firm gives it’s employees a half day before every single holiday – no matter when it falls. They’re closed on Monday for President’s Day, so I have off on Monday, too. I don’t mind being off half a day on Friday and off on Monday, but of course I’m not getting paid for it, so I’d much rather work!
