Another Slow Day (spent reading)!

Eric worked again today – three days in a row.  I think that’s great, although he’s off tomorrow.  We’ll see what next week brings!

I had another slow day, mostly spent reading, although I did have a few projects for different people.  I’m almost done with my book and I have to bring another book to work tomorrow, because I’ll definitely finish THE RED TENT within an hour!  My boss was supposed to be in tomorrow, but he’s stuck in St. Louis, because of an ice storm!

He’ll be in LA on Monday, so now I won’t see him until Tuesday.  That means two more days of reading!

I got home around 5:30pm and Eric was watching TV in bed.  I steamed some edamame, added some sea salt and we had a delicious little snack!  We watched MILLIONAIRE together and then he took a nap while I watched DR. PHIL.

Then, I made us NUTRISYSTEM flat bread pizzas.  We watched AMERICAN IDOL from last night – girl’s night -- and then watched the AMERICAN IDOL results show tonight, where 4 contestants were voted off.  There are only a handful of them that are any good anyway – about 4 boys and 4 girls.  The rest are just fluff.

I really think when they audition all over the country they let a lot of super-talented people get away and choose some singers more because their personalities than their talent.  They just make good television.  That’s a shame, but it makes it easy for the first 12 to get eliminated.  When it gets down to the last 12, THAT’S when the real competition starts!

Tomorrow is Friday already.  There’s nothing like a 4-day work week!  We have no plans at all for the weekend, except I have to hit the post office before noon (oh, how I’ve missed it) and Eric and I are going to Citibank, because we decided Eric should open a savings account and put all of his earnings into a special account.  We called it his “escape fund.”  I told Eric that saving his money towards our move back east will make him feel like he’s really accomplishing something by working, instead of just depositing it with my check into our regular checking account.  He liked that idea!

He seems to be in a much better mood when he’s working, so I hope there’s more work for him next week.  It is somewhat aggravating for him, because some of the things he has to do at work waste time and money, and he’s so practical and so good at his trade that he gets frustrated by the inadequacies of the people he works with and for, but he just deals.  Actually, it was the same way in NY, but at least he was getting union pay with union benefits.  Here, the pay’s less and there are no benefits.

The bottom line is: Keep Eric busy.  He told me today that someone at work offered to take him by the Mexican border to do mountain biking.  He says it’s supposed to be pretty good and he really wants to go, even though he knows how dangerous it is around there.  I’m not happy about it, but I don’t think I can stop him.  I just hope he doesn’t end up crossing the border into Mexico!
