Eric Gets His Crown!

Eric IS my king – don’t get me wrong – but I’m talking about his trip to the dentist!

I don’t know if I mentioned this when it happened, but a few weeks ago we were eating dinner and a piece of his tooth broke off.  He went to the dentist and they gave him a temporary and tonight he went to get his permanent crown.  It looks great!

But I’m getting ahead of myself!  I had a good day at work.  Nothing exciting.  Did some work, but not too busy.  I’ve now read 550 pages of my book.  My boss even asked me today if I was enjoying it – if the author was a good writer.  I told him I definitely gave it a thumbs up!

The weather the last two days has been glorious.  Just perfect.  I’d say low 70s and just a little breezy – pure San Diego Sunshine!

After work I picked up my raincoat from the dry cleaners and the two pair of shoes I had fixed at the shoe repair.  My ride dropped me off there and I walked down the block to the apartment after I ran my errands.

Five minutes after I got home Eric arrived back from the dentist.  He said he could only eat mushy food, so I made him a NUTRISYSTEM meatloaf and mashed potatoes and I had cheese ravioli.  I told Eric it was the smallest piece of meatloaf I’d ever seen.  We also had some of my soup.  Yummy!

I watched DR. PHIL and then a PRIMETIME show called “What Would You Do?”  They had actors in certain situations to see how people would react.  If you saw someone damage a car while parking and then leave, would you try to stop them?  If you saw three young teenage girls verbally abusing a fourth, would you step in?  It was very interesting!

I’m trying to get my tax papers ready for the accountant.  This is the WORST job of the year – by far.  Every year I DREAD it, and I don’t even do it myself!!!  It’s just the stress of collecting all the paperwork (especially when I had the business) and compiling all the information I needed.  I only had the shop three months last year, but I still have to do ALL the same work – it will just be a little easier than when I was open the full year.  I always feel SUCH a weight off when that’s finally done for another year.

Eric and I watched AMERICAN IDOL (girl’s night).  We really enjoy watching that together.  We also watch DANCING WITH THE STARS together when that’s on.  It surprises even me that Eric would be interested in those shows, but he’s a great judge of talent and we love discussing who’s the best, who should be voted off, are the judges right or wrong, etc.  We used to love watching HELL’S KITCHEN, too.  I LOVE reality TV and I guess Eric likes it, too!

Tomorrow morning someone is coming to inspect a picture that was damaged by the moving company.  It’s a piece that I really wanted to hang over the couch in the living room, and it’s the only thing that was damaged in transit.  I thought we were VERY lucky.  It seemed like it must have been dropped, because two sides of the frame were broken and two sides were just kind of pushed out, because of the pressure of it hitting the ground on the other side.  The glass was cracked, but only up in one corner.  I’m so grateful that the picture wasn’t damaged, because it’s a signed lithograph of Marilyn Monroe, and it’s one of my favorite pieces.

I worried SO much when our stuff was packed and left our house in Whitestone.  It went from: (1) the house to a moving van; (2) from the moving van to a warehouse in the Bronx; (3) from the warehouse to another moving van – which drove across the country to San Diego; (4) from the moving van to a warehouse in Temecula; (5) from the warehouse to another moving van; and (6) from the moving van to our apartment here in Clairemont.

Is it any wonder I worried?  There were SO many opportunities for something to get lost, stolen, or damaged.  I worried a LOT.  And the only thing that was broken was this one picture.  What are the chances we’ll have the same wonderful luck when we ship everything back to the East Coast?  I’d like to think everything will be okay – again – but, I’m not THAT optimistic!
