Eric's Under the Weather!

Eric didn’t feel well today and he never heard from his loser boss, so he didn’t work today, and didn’t do much else either.  He said he felt nauseous and he did feel a little warm when I got home from work tonight.  I really hope he’s not coming down with something, because I want to go out for Valentine’s Day!

I had a great day at work.  They kept me busy and the day flew by.  I’m starting to make friends and everyone is so nice.

I’ve been getting a ride to and from work every day now and the girl I ride with is great.  She said that having company makes the ride more pleasant, and we have a lot in common.  Her husband sounds a lot like Eric.  He loves to work on cars, rides a dirt bike (and occasionally a mountain bike) and is very handy.  I told her we should go out to eat sometime and we’d take them to HAIKU, since they’ve never been there.

We have a half day on Friday, because the firm has a new policy, which it just started in 2008, where you only work ½ day the day before any holiday, no matter when it falls.  So, we leave at noon on Friday, and then have Monday off.  I’d rather work, since I’m not getting paid, but – hey – vacation is vacation!  It sure will be nice to do laundry and food shopping during the week, instead of the weekends when everyone else has to do it, too.

We were going to go camera shopping tonight, but Eric wasn’t feeling well, so instead of going by myself I thought I’d wait for him and go Friday or Saturday afternoon.  I’m so excited to get my new camera.  The one I want is the CANON Powershot SD1000, which my niece Jessica has.  It’s light, small, easy to operate and not too expensive either!  It’s amazing how far digital cameras have come in just 5 or 6 years.  My OLYMPUS was over $400 and it’s big, heavy and hard to use.  This is less than half the price!

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day.  I’m going to see if I can pull together a red outfit for work.  I have a nice vintage dress that’s red and black, but I don’t know if I’ll fit into it.  Probably not.  I weighed 129 yesterday and was back to 128.6 today, but haven’t gotten below 128.4, which is my best weight to date.

Losing at LEAST 10 pounds seems insurmountable, because I have been SO good on this diet and have now been on it for 30 days.  What’s with this cockamamie diet?

Have you noticed that I have been saying “cockamamie” a lot lately.  That’s because my friend Susan wrote it in an email and the word made me laugh and now I can’t stop using it myself!  It just says it all, don’t you think?

The dictionary defines it as meaning: ridiculous, pointless, or nonsensical: full of wild schemes and cockamamie ideas.  I think it’s a word that’s not used enough these days, and I think we should bring it back!  Justin Timberlake is bringing sexy back; I'm bringing cockamamie back!  Start using it!

Well, I’m going to close now, because I must go tend to my sick husband, and nurse him back to health (all that really means is cuddling with him in bed).  I need him to be well for Valentine's Day tomorrow!  I’m sure it’s nothing serious, so don’t fret, my dear friends.  He’s just got a little bug or something.  He’ll be just fine.
