Eric had to go to work to fill out a timesheet, but he didn’t know if he’d be working today. Since he didn’t have to be there super-early, he got up with me at 6:00am and left before 7:00am. I left at the usual time and went to work.
Here’s my day in a nutshell: I had NUTRISYSTEM granola for breakfast, read over 100 pages of I KNOW THIS MUCH IS TRUE, had a big salad for lunch, and left at 5:00pm. Not much in-between to speak of!
I spoke to Eric by late morning and he was already at home. He kind of got laid off today. The boss told him there’s just not a lot of work and that he’d call him if he got more work. Eric told him he’d probably be looking elsewhere for work. I figure he’s better off, because he only worked 5 days in a month, so who needs it? It was more trouble than it was worth – for sure. I told him not to worry. That it was no biggie. That we’d be fine. That he’d find more work, if he wanted to. He seemed okay with it, but we’ll see what the next few weeks hold.
When I got home, he had just gotten back from a ride. I just changed my clothes and left again to go to my acupuncture appointment. It was another pleasant experience, but he stuck so many more needles than ever before. He asked me if I was comfortable and if it hurt. When I said no, he said he was going to be a little more aggressive, so he started sticking pins in my hands, my legs, even the bottom of my feet. It stings for a second when he sticks the needle in, and then you forget they’re there.
We talk the whole time. He’s very interested in our situation and is very supportive and encouraging. He’s very sweet and I enjoy the whole thing, relaxing on that massage table with a fluffy pillow under my head, and a nice pillow roll under my knees. I don’t have to take my clothes off – he just rolls up my pants to my knees. I still don’t know how much (if anything) will be covered by our insurance, but we’ll see. Meanwhile, I’m optimistic that it will help!
When I got home I made soup for me and Eric. He had a little leftover salad from his dinner last night and I had some leftover salmon and asparagus. I had a new low weight this morning – 124.8. It seems like I am losing a few ounces a day, and if it keeps going this way, I will be EXTREMELY happy!
Eric and I watched a DISCOVERY CHANNEL show about an American Loch Ness monster in Lake Champlain. They call him Champ. It was very interesting!
I also did another jewelry mosaic project – I covered the top of a vintage compact/purse with jewelry. It was one of those old metal cases that holds your powder, lipstick, mirror, and a place for money and cigarettes. The whole shebang in one little purse. It was very beat up, but had a beautiful jeweled piece on the top. I figured if I covered the beat-up part with jewels, it would be fabulous. It took me a few hours, but it was worth it. I think it’s worthy of the Academy Award Red Carpet! When I get a chance to download and work on my photos, I’ll post it on the blog!
I recorded A RAISIN IN THE SUN, which is a fabulous play and now a wonderful movie, which got amazing reviews. I can’t wait to watch it over the weekend, when I have a few hours to sit and watch.
Tomorrow my boss will be back in the office, so it should be MUCH busier, which I am definitely looking forward to, although I have to admit my boss makes me a little nervous. He’s just very impatient and gets frustrated very easily. He can be a little condescending and sharp with me, which of course I don’t like at all, but at least I have something to do! It’s just that it’s not much fun.
He’s not entertaining at all and you all know I like to be entertained in everything I do. I think that’s what life is about. If it’s no fun, why bother? He has absolutely no sense of humor. I try to joke around with him, but he won’t have it at all. He’s all work and no play.
I notice that people stand around and joke with each other, but he doesn’t really talk to anyone except regarding business. I can assure you, he’s not the most popular guy in the office! There’s a woman who works down the hall and has her own office. She laughs CONSTANTLY – this high-pitched, hyena-type laugh, which – after a month – I find SO annoying.
She must be the kind of person who laughs inappropriately – like a nervous laugh – because – I tell you – there just CANNOT be so much funny stuff going on in her office! She laughs ALL the time – on the phone, with people in her office, when she’s standing at a cubicle talking to someone, walking down the hall with someone. She’s ALWAYS laughing. If I worked at COMEDY CENTRAL, I’d be a little more understanding, but this is an INVESTMENT firm! Hello?
I like to laugh as much as the next guy (probably more), but you don’t catch me laughing all day long. I’m DYING to ask someone else if her laugh annoys them as much as it does me, but of course I’m the new girl in town and can’t start backstabbing at this early stage of the game. I’ll have to wait at LEAST another month!
Aside from Mr. Crabapple and Ms. Laugh-a-lot, everyone in the office is perfectly lovely – friendly and helpful. I think I’m really lucky to have found this job – the first one I was offered. It has turned out to be a really good gig and I am going to try to make it last as LONG as possible!
