Second Week At Work!

Before I start today's entry, I want to share a few photos of my beautiful nieces' trip to San Diego:

Here we are at the Hotel Del Coronado:

I hated getting up in the morning, but once I was in the shower I was actually happy to go to work!  I told Eric that in the car on the drive there.   It’s not like this is my dream job or anything.  It’s very far from that.  It’s just absolutely pleasant.  The commute is easy – just 15 minutes from door to door.  The place is really pretty and interesting, with original art everywhere.  The people are super-friendly and helpful.  The work is either easy or challenging with lots of support.  Either way, I get the job done.

My only complaint is that I’m bored a lot, because they don’t keep me busy.  When you have a real job you can always find something to do.  There’s usually no time to get everything done.  When you’re a temp you just do what they ask and wait for the next task.  It makes the day drag on and today I actually stared at the computer clock and watched 4:50 become 5:00pm.  BOR-ING!  If they could keep me busy I’d be totally happy!

There’s a guy who works in the cafeteria who is a musical history savant.  By that I mean that he knows every popular song in the world and who recorded it and in what year.  He’s amazing.   He’s got the radio playing really loud in the cafeteria and I challenge him every time I see him (which is about once a day).  He’s never stumped.  Now of course I wasn’t sure that Patsy Cline recorded CRAZY (written by Willie Nelson, by the way) in 1961, but – sure enough – after researching online I found that he was right.  He could win a lot of money on a music trivia show!  I think he gets a kick out of the fact that I ask him about whatever song is playing when I’m there.  I can see it gives him pleasure to show is expertise in this field.  If only you could make  a living at it!

I’ve been doing so much walking for the past week and my right foot is really hurting.  I’m trying to get an appointment with an Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Practitioner.  He works at the place where Eric and I got massages back in November.  I’ve wanted to go to him since then, and now that I’m working and my foot is hurting a lot I figure it’s time to check it out.  I’m not bad with needles, since I had allergy shots at a very young age (and very regularly), so I figure it won’t be so bad.  And it’s in my foot, so I can just look away.  I don’t know if I could take them in my face, but I’d like to investigate helping my allergies, too.

I spoke to the acupuncturist and he is going to call our insurance carrier to find out if they cover those treatments.  If they don’t, I will see how much it costs.  I’m betting it’s expensive and I don’t know if I would go for it if we’re not covered at all.

Eric was waiting for me at 5:00pm and he drove me over to the acupuncturist so I could give him a copy of our medical card and other important information.  Then we came home and I made us salads and we each had a NUTRISYSTEM flat bread pizza.

Eric and I watched DR. PHIL and then I came out to work on the computer.  My niece Stephanie called and we spoke for a while.  Then I paid some bills, worked on the computer some more and my Mom called.  We spoke for a while, too!  I packed up some NUTRISYSTEM breakfasts and lunches to get me through the week and decided to blog and get to bed early.

As I was typing the paragraph above I realized how boring my life has become.  I don’t even understand why anybody would take the time to read this blog anymore.  When we were traveling it was exciting to see where we would go next (and what we would eat), but now that I’m working and eating NUTRISYSTEM meals all the time, what’s the use?  My life’s a bore.  It really is.  I mean it’s relatively interesting to me, but I just can’t see why anybody else would be interested.  I really can’t.

I know a lot of people use their blogs to rant and rave about things, or just for stream-of-consciousness-style writings.  I’ve always used it to keep in touch and let people know what’s going on with us -- people whom we love and miss but just can’t write or call as much as we’d like.  I actually believe the people reading this now number less than 10.  It sometimes seems like a big waste of time.  I never kept a diary in my life, and it made so much sense all across America, but now I hardly care and I’m wondering if anybody else does.

Maybe I’ll start making stuff up.  Not bad stuff, because I wouldn’t want to worry anybody.  But not really good stuff either, because I wouldn’t want to get anyone excited for no reason.  I should just make up stories and be honest about it, so people know they’re reading fiction.  This has been a non-fiction blog for over 180 days.  Maybe I should start writing fiction!
