No, I’m not describing myself, although I’d like to think that I am! I’m talking about today’s blog, because there really isn’t much to report!
I have to give a shout out to my girl, Geri, whose birthday is today. Hope it was wonderful!
It's also my nephew, Brandon's birthday. He's 33. Wow! He was about 7 when I met him. I remember the first time I ever saw him. He was in Eric's room (Eric still lived with his parents when I met him) and he was playing some computer game and wouldn't even take his eyes off the screen to say hello to me. He was so cute. Boy, time flies!
Work was SO slow today, but I knew that it would be. My boss is in St. Louis and won't be back until Friday. I had the good sense to bring a book with me – THE RED TENT – by Anita Diamant, which my sister, Lenae, gave me when we were at her house in New Paltz in August, right before we left New York. I read over 150 pages today.
Now, I’m a fast reader, but I have to say I think I read for about 5 hours and worked for less than 3. Besides reading I had breakfast, then lunch, went to the bathroom at least 4 times, got a drink in the coffee room, talked on the phone, read my emails and the news on YAHOO and also did a little work. They paid me for a whole day and I mostly read my book!
The book is great. It's beautifully written and takes you into another world. It’s the story of Dinah, a woman in the bible who is just briefly written about. Anita Diamant took what little the bible tells about Dinah and wrote her life story. It’s really quite lovely.
When I got home Eric was in the shower. He said he had a pretty good day. We both took a nap (missing the lunar eclipse) and then I made dinner. Eric had leftover chicken cutlets and asparagus with my soup and I had a big bowl of soup.
Then we watched AMERICAN IDOL from last night (the 12 boys sang). We agreed on all of them. Eric's a great judge of talent (hey, he likes me, doesn't he?). He was spot on in his assessment of all the guys and we liked the same ones (as well as Simon!). There are about 4 standouts; 4 are okay; and 4 will be voted off rather quickly. Tomorrow we’ll watch the girls!
Now, Eric’s sleeping and I just finished making his lunch for tomorrow. I always loved making his lunch for him. I like to know he’s going to eat well during the day.
Tomorrow should be more of the same at work, unless somebody finds me something to do. I was begging for work in the morning, but no one needed help with anything!
I have to admit, reading made it better, but the day still dragged on. I mean how long can you sit and read in one day? I read off and on for 8 hours today! If tomorrow is the same, I'll probably finish the book. Yikes!
