Valentine's Day Comes Early!

I had a fabulous surprise this morning at work.  At around 11:00am the receptionist called and asked me to come upstairs to the reception area.  I couldn’t imagine what she wanted and even thought, “What did I do?”  I thought I might be in trouble!

Roses

When I got off the elevator, there was Eric waiting for me with a dozen long-stemmed red roses!  I was SO thrilled.  I couldn’t believe he did that for me.  He didn’t work today, so he decided to bring them to me in person, and thought it would be nice for me to have them a few extra days, so I could enjoy them longer!

Roses

He came down to my desk with me and I showed him around the department.  All the girls were VERY interested to meet the guy who brought me a dozen roses, and they were all gathered around Eric.  He was shaking hands and introducing himself.  He was SO cute!  It was the “old Eric.”  He was just the way he used to be -- happy, and sweet and so considerate and thoughtful.  I can’t tell you what it meant to me.  I wasn’t even sure I would get a card this Valentine’s Day, because he’s been so down, and here he actually drove to the office just to bring me flowers!

I was floating the rest of the day.  Everyone kept coming around my desk and asking me about the roses and the “mysterious man” who delivered them.  Since they hardly know me, they were all extremely curious.  Eric was the talk of the office all afternoon!  I told my boss I was sorry I didn’t get to introduce him, because he was behind closed doors, but he said he “heard all about it.”

I got a ride home and went straight to the dentist.  I wanted to get a check-up and get a cleaning.  I have receding gums and my teeth are extremely sensitive, so I always get nitrous oxide when I get my teeth cleaned, or have anything more than an examination done.  Unfortunately, once I got in the chair they told me they don’t have nitrous oxide.  I couldn’t believe it.  How could that be?

First, when Eric went last week, he was surprised because they don’t have the little sink next to the seat where you spit.  He was getting work done and wanted to spit out blood.  They said, “Those were outlawed.  We just use the suction.”

Now, I go and they say they don’t use nitrous oxide.  What kind of a cockamamie place is this?  I told them they could take x-rays, so I’d know if I had any cavities, but I wasn’t going to get my teeth cleaned without gas.  I told them I’d find a sedation dentist and get put out.  I just can’t deal with the pain!

Fortunately, I didn’t have any cavities, so I was out of there pretty quickly.  I got home and Eric and I each had a NUTRISYSTEM entrée.  Today is the 29th day we’ve been on this diet and I have been SO good, yet I think I’ve lost about 3 pounds!  I can’t eat much less, so I have to start exercising more, but between my bad left hand and my bad right foot, I’m a mess!  I know what you’re thinking:  “Boo hoo!  Poor, little Peppy.”

Tomorrow, if he’s not working, Eric is going to take me to get a new digital camera.  I’m so excited!  Mine broke months ago and I’ve been using my cell phone ever since (and the pictures STINK!).  So, I’ll be photographing more and putting more pictures on the blog.  And won’t that be nice?
