Peppy Is Very Tired!

So, let me tell you all about our night last night.  It turned out pretty darn great!   First, let me say that, in order to save my diet AND some money, we didn’t go out to eat before the concert.  We just ate at home, which turned out to be a good thing, because I had a chance to relax and unwind a little before our evening started.  I think BECAUSE I didn’t do anything at work yesterday, and I didn’t have a good night’s sleep (wind chimes) I was more tired than usual.  So, we left the house at 6:30pm and drove the ½ hour to the arena.

The FOO FIGHTERS did make it to the COX ARENA and the concert was great!  Long and great!  There were TWO opening acts – AGAINST ME! and SERJ TANKIAN (who used to be the lead singer for one of Eric’s favorite newer bands – SYSTEM OF A DOWN).

Foo Fighters

We got there just as the first band started.  Eric thought they were great, but they were a little too alternative rock for me.  The second band was better, and I even knew one of the songs (because it was a SYSTEM OF A DOWN song), so I enjoyed them more.

THEN, the FOO FIGHTERS came on.  I have to tell you, DAVE GROHL is SO great.  He’s just a guy who wants to make great music, and wants the audience to have a fantastic time while he’s doing it!  He’s got no attitude, no ego, no superstar “you’re lucky I’m here” kind of way about him.  It’s all about having fun and making great music – and that they do.  They played some new hits, and some old hits.  They had a long runway that he ran up and down.  He would go all the way to the left and the left side of the house would scream.  He’d run all the way to the right and the right side would go crazy.

Grohl

Then, he’d run down that runway and the front of the house (where we were – only waaaaaaay up top) would go nuts.  The whole band is great, especially Dave and the drummer, Taylor Hawkins.  Dave Grohl, for those of you who don’t know, was the drummer for NIRVANA, and then he started FOO FIGHTERS.  They’ve been around for over ten years and they are a great rock band.  Dave’s an awesome screamer.  I mean, this guy can SCREAM.  Eric said he doesn’t understand how he doesn’t lose his voice, but the truth is, when he sings softly, he has a beautiful voice and it’s very pure and sweet.  So, he can really do it all!

Halfway through their set this circular stage started descending from the ceiling at the end of the runway.  The crowd went WILD.  There were keyboards, a piano, percussion instruments and another drum set and the whole band moved to the opposite end of the arena (where WE were) and played an acoustic set.  They were amazing.  People were just going crazy.

Then, after 5 or 6 songs they went back to the main stage and kept playing!  They played for over 2 hours!  I was exhausted and wanted to go home and go to sleep, but I was enjoying them so much and I didn’t want to leave until they were done.  They came out to do a 3-song encore and we left in the middle of the second song, because we figured we’d beat the crowds leaving the arena and at the parking lot across the street.  We were home by 11:45pm and I got to sleep around 12:30am.  I slept like a log and it REALLY hurt to get out of bed this morning.

I knew my ride would be just as tired, because she was at the concert last night, too!  Eric was sleeping soundly and I went to work.  I didn’t do much, but I’ve read over 100 pages of THE STOLEN CHILD already.  It’s a weird book, but I’m enjoying it.

I worked on some projects today and even had a meeting!  I’m working with someone to update an online library of articles that my department maintains, so we had a meeting today with a few people to figure out where to begin.

I left at 5:00pm and came right home.  I made us a snack of edamame and did some work on the computer, cleaned a little, and then watched a little TV.  Then, I made Eric chicken cutlets and asparagus and I had asparagus and NUTRISYSTEM cheese ravioli (2 big ones).  For dessert we each had a little gelato.  I know, I’m bad, and the scale is showing it.  I’m back up to 125.8.  My lowest weight so far, about a week ago, was 124.8, so I’ve already gained back a pound!  It’s SO easy to gain.  Why can’t it be that easy to lose?  I’m going to get my act together and stop cheating.  I promise.  As soon as the gelato is gone!

Tomorrow Eric is taking me to the STATE OF CALIFORNIA BOARD OF EQUALIZATION downtown, so I can get a temporary seller’s permit.  I need it in order to sell at the show on March 30th.  I filled out the form online and printed it out.  Instead of mailing it, I’m bringing it there in person, so in case there’s a problem I can get it resolved and leave with my permit tomorrow morning (I HOPE!!!).  Eric will drive me, so I won’t have to worry about parking, and then he’ll drop me off at work.  I’m so excited about the show on March 30th.  I’m really looking forward to it.  I just have a lot of work to do before then in order to have a lot of inventory to sell!
