I stayed up too late last night – much too late. I was working for so long on the CRAFTS BLOG and then, when I finished that, I quickly did my regular blog. I won’t be doing the crafts blog every day, and I also won’t be downloading over 25 pictures every day, so that won’t be a regular problem. I got into bed at midnight and turned off WILL AND GRACE at 12:17am, but it was VERY windy outside (after an unbelievably hot and clear day) and the wind chimes of my neighbor were keeping me awake. Eric hardly heard them, but I heard them loud and clear. It would settle down for a while, and then the wind would pick up and it would start chiming again and it would wake me! NOT a good night’s sleep!
I told Eric I wanted to go out there and not take it down but just put a rubberband around them, so they couldn’t chime. Would that be a crime? A Chime Crime?
So, I was already exhausted this morning and we had tickets to see the FOO FIGHTERS at COX ARENA tonight. The show is at 7:30pm, but there are TWO opening acts, so we knew we weren’t going to get home early. NOT a good way to start off the week – wind chimes and a rock concert. Looks like I’ll be exhausted for the rest of the week, because it’s very hard to catch up on missed sleep – especially for me. I’m just glad Eric doesn’t have to get up for work tomorrow – at 4:00am!
It’s funny, because my boss is out this week until Thursday and I could easily tell them I’m taking a day off, or just a morning off, but I feel guilty losing the money. I figure if they’re willing to pay me to do absolutely nothing (but read the next book I brought to work today – THE STOLEN CHILD by KEITH DONOHUE) then I’ll just let them!
So, I had this oval pin I loved. It had a faux carved jade piece in the center and was surrounded by faux pearls in a gold setting. The other day I was leaning over the bathroom sink, putting it on (so I didn’t wake Eric) and one of the pearls fell into the sink. As it was spinning around (like the marble on a roulette wheel, before it finds it’s pocket), I was able to catch it. I thought that was REALLY lucky. I reglued the pearl and wore it.
This morning I wanted to wear the same pearl so what do I do? I stand in front of the bathroom mirror AGAIN and AGAIN another (different) pearl drops and this time it goes down the drain. I felt SO stupid. I mean I KNEW it could happen and it already DID happen and I just had to push my luck! So, now I have another really nice piece for my mosaics. It’s obvious the pearls are all loose and will fall out one by one until they’re all gone. I don’t want to deal, so I’d rather just use it for my crafts.
I did absolutely nothing at work all day today. I mean if you used the stop watch today it would have been about 20 minutes. The only thing I accomplished was booking our trip to North Carolina. We’ll actually make a quick stop in Delray Beach to see my folks, then go to Asheville and Charlotte for a week. It’s a complicated trip, because we have to stop in Atlanta every time: San Diego to Atlanta to West Palm Beach; West Palm Beach to Atlanta to Asheville; Asheville to Atlanta to San Diego. Fun, fun, fun! I still have to take care of the hotel and car rental, but the hotel is complicated, because we don’t know exactly how many days we’ll be in Asheville and how many days we’ll be in Charlotte, so I figure we’ll play that part by ear.
I was SO bored all afternoon. Thank goodness I got to leave work at 4:30pm, because my ride was ALSO going to the FOO FIGHTERS tonight! What are the odds? We both couldn’t believe it when we found out.
So, we’re on the way home when her husband calls and tells her there’s a chance the concert has been cancelled, because there were such bad winds in Phoenix that they had to turn the tour bus around! So, we tried to listen to the radio, find out something online, but between us all we only heard that it WAS going on, so we left at 6:30pm.
Since I’ll be getting home too late to blog tonight, I will review the concert (if it’s on) and tell you everything that happened tomorrow. Thanks for your patience and understanding!
