My server was down for the third time this month, which is why -- to some of you -- this entry is late!
The first thing that happened this morning at work is that my computer wouldn’t go on. This happened one time before (also on a Monday morning), so I called “Tech Support” and they said they’d send someone. I didn’t think this was a very good way to start the day, let alone the week, so I decided to treat myself to an iced mocha from the coffee girl downstairs.
When I got back the tech guy was there. He figured out that it wasn’t the monitor, so he took the computer and then came back and told me the hard drive had crashed and everything was lost. Good thing I don’t keep anything on the hard drive! I sat at another desk for a few hours, so I could send some emails for the boss, and then they brought me a new computer and I was up and running before noon.
I didn’t do anything for the rest of the day, except read almost 200 pages of my book! I’m almost ¾ of the way done, which is very frustrating, because I’m REALLY enjoying it and don’t want it to end.
When I got home, Eric had a bad headache, which he’s had since yesterday afternoon. I think it’s partly the heat. It is SO damned hot here – around 90 degrees. It’s supposed to cool down tomorrow, which should make it easier for everyone. It’s unseasonably warm here, but I know it’s been warm in lots of places. My sister, Audrey, told me it was 80 degrees in Albany last week. Usually around this time of year you can expect 60 degrees in Albany.
It was also 80 degrees today in Charlotte (I keep track of the weather there now), and that’s unseasonably warm for JULY in Charlotte (as it is in SD). Most of the time, it’s between 70-80 here – even in the dead of summer. So, the whole country is warming up. Just great. Global warming at its very best.
It’s hard to do anything in this heat, so I didn’t feel like cooking or cleaning. I sewed the sleeve of a cardigan that was ripped, so I can wear it tomorrow. I actually put it on this morning and saw the rip, but didn’t have time to fix it. I also need to iron a dress tonight, so I can wear it tomorrow, but the thought of plugging in the iron doesn’t thrill me.
Aren’t you glad you read my blog? How would you know about my sewing and ironing if you didn’t check in on me everyday? You might REALLY miss out on something important!
I DID get a bit of good news today. Our friend, Scott, is coming to San Diego for the weekend at the end of May. I’m SO happy. He’s someone Eric and I really enjoy and I’m really looking forward to it. He has business in Scottsdale, but is making the trip here for 2 days before his meeting, just to see us, which I REALLY appreciate. It’s nice to have something to look forward to!
