It doesn’t matter that I ran errands all day long, I’m on vacation! I am excited about being off from work (after just 10 weeks of working), I’m excited about seeing my parents in Florida, and I’m excited about checking out Asheville and Charlotte!
I was up at 8:00am. Eric still has a headache, so I quietly watched TV, worked on the computer and had breakfast. I left the house at noon and had a lot of errands to run.
First, I hit CITIBANK to deposit my check. Then I went to UPS to mail the Key Frame that Katie purchased. Word of advice re: UPS: Pack and box anything you’re going to ship yourself, because they charge an arm and a leg (over $3 for a box and over $2 for Styrofoam popcorn!). Anyway, at least Katie will get it safe and sound!
I stopped at STARBUCKS for my Mocha Light Frappuccino, then went to RITE AID and purchased small size toothpaste, mouth wash, shaving cream and moisturizer, and also purchased 4 more little bottles so I can put more liquids, creams and gels in them for our trip.
Then, I drove to La Jolla to visit Gili at GILI ANNA’S on Prospect Street. As usual, her shop looked gorgeous and she was delightful! She’s so beautiful, so sweet, so supportive of my work. She was thrilled that I brought her eight pieces to sell, including the bejeweled tissue box, the 50s cigarette case, the 50s purse, and 5 mirrors.
Finally, I headed home. I called Eric a few times, to see if he wanted me to bring anything special home, but he didn’t answer the phone. Not a good sign. When I got home, I found him still in bed and the place smelled of Ben Gay. He said his neck was hurting him (like the last few times he had a stiff neck and a bad headache) and his headache was still bad. I wish I knew what this was all about, but I’m still pretty sure it’s stress. I just hope he’s feeling better by Monday morning, because it will be horrible to fly in that condition.
I made myself a NUTRISYSTEM lunch (Vegetarian Chili) and watched TV in the living room while I worked on the computer. I wanted to finish my CRAFTS BLOG with all the pictures I took last Sunday at the SPRING LINE-UP. It took me over two hours to write it all, attach all the links and upload all the pictures. So, check it out: www.peppysdream.com/craftsblog
After I finished working on the computer, I was exhausted. So, I did what I do best: I took a nap! I swear, if there were talent contests, or Olympic events featuring napping, I’d win in a second. I’m REALLY good at it! It was about 5:30pm and I fell asleep in less than 10 minutes. At some point Eric got up and went into the living room to watch TV (for the first time all day). His neck was killing him. This is something relatively new – the headache/neckache combination. He used to get the headache/stomachache, and he’d throw up all day, so this is much preferable, but still not great.
I woke up at 7:30pm and came out to the living room. He was lying on the floor, wrapped in a pink blanket, watching AMC. They’re having a tribute to CHARLES BRONSON and THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN was on with one of my all-time favorite actors – Yul Brynner. That boy just does it for me. It doesn’t matter whether he’s wearing Capri pants in THE KING AND I or jeans and a black shirt in THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN. He’s a HUNK!
I made Eric an organic tomato bisque soup (and by made I mean I took off the metal lid, put the plastic lid on top and microwaved for 2 minutes, then put some crackers on a plate with the bowl and handed it to him).
I decided on NUTRISYSTEM ravioli (2 large ones in tomato sauce). I watched an episode of PSYCH while Eric went back and forth between THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN and Keanu Reeves in CONSTANTINE. Neither is really my speed. Then, I watched HGTV design shows. They’re always fun!
I put sunscreen and my hair products into appropriately sized containers and I think I’m finally ready to pack tomorrow. Our clothes are all clean, I’ve got all the sundries, and I just have to figure out how much to take. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be cold in Asheville and Charlotte, so we’ve got to bring layers. We were in South Carolina in December and it was pretty darn warm out, so I’m hoping that North Carolina in April will be about the same. 60s-70s during the day; 40s-50s at night. No coats necessary, but layers – definitely!
I pulled clothes out of drawers and the closet and put it all on top of the suitcase. Tomorrow I will figure out exactly what to take and pack it all up. We have to be at the airport VERY early, because our flight leaves at 6:30am. Between the stop in Atlanta and the 3-hour difference, we get to West Palm Beach at 4:30pm! It’s an all-day trip! I have to call the shuttle company to schedule our pick-up. We’ll probably get picked up at 5:00am, so it’s pretty much a 12-hour trip to go across the country. Pretty crazy, eh? If only we could have flown non-stop, but those flights just don’t exist from San Diego to West Palm Beach!
Tomorrow is all about packing and making sure we have everything we need for the trip, leaving the apartment clean and in order, and getting to bed early for our early wake-up on Monday morning!
