Still Jumping Through Hoops For Medical Benefits!

Today Eric tried to get all the issues resolved with AETNA.  They told him they needed his blood pressure and cholesterol readings, but the doctor’s office wouldn’t give the information over the phone.  He had to pay $45 to have the records mailed to us.  Since we’re going away on Monday, he told AETNA that we wouldn’t have the information for two weeks, so they’re putting our application “on hold.”   Nice!

The frustrating thing is that Eric’s blood pressure and cholesterol was never really high – at least not high enough to warrant medication.  We never should have been honest enough to tell them it read high at all.  That’s what you get for being honest!

Anyway, I had a SUPER boring day at work today.  I didn’t have anything to do except work on my “special project” and it’s such boring, repetitious work that my eyes start to cross after a while and I just can’t work on it anymore.  It's really just data entry, and I've got 700 lines filled in my Excel spreadsheet, so you have an idea of how much work I've put in.  If I had something else to do, I could do that for a while and then go back to it, but I really don’t!

At lunch I went downstairs and walked outside for a few minutes and got a decaf latte.  I really wanted the caffeine, but I resisted, because I think that may have contributed to my tiredness in the last few days.  I had some caffeine earlier in the week and my body really reacts to it.  I’m better off without it!  Just going outside into the afternoon sunshine, with a nice breeze blowing made me feel great.  The weather in San Diego just can't be beat.  Every day here is really a joy.

Finally, after what seemed like a week, it was 5:00pm.  I was so happy to get out of there!  When I got home, I made us edamame and relaxed for a while.  Then, I watched CELEBRITY APPRENTICE, because I had never seen the season finale.  I’m disappointed that Piers Morgan won, instead of Trace Atkins, but he DID raise a lot more money.  He’s just such an obnoxious guy and Trace is such a gentleman.  You want to see the nice guy win, but that doesn’t always happen!

Tomorrow is my last day before vacation.  Wheeee!  I’m very excited.  I spoke to my Mom and Dad today and they’re so happy we’re coming!

My boss will be back from Milwaukee in the afternoon, so I’ll get to talk to him before I leave.  I’m hoping to return to the company when we get back, but I’m still not sure what will happen.  It would make life easier if I could just go back there, because I’m comfortable there, even if it’s pretty boring.  If they don’t need me back, then the agency will have to find me another job.  It might be more exciting, but the unknown is always a little scary!

So, good news – I was down to 123 lbs. this morning.  I couldn’t believe it.  We’ll see what tomorrow brings.  I really seem to fluctuate a lot, but that’s a new all-time low.  I don’t even think I weighed 123 when I left NY last August.  I think the last time I weighed myself in NY at the doctor’s office I weighed 124.  So, I’m getting there!  Slowly but surely I’m getting there!

It’s going to be VERY hard to be good when we’re on vacation.  That’s how I got in trouble in the first place!  I just have to be very disciplined, because it would really be a shame to gain 5 pounds in two weeks and have to do this all over again!

I spoke to Andrew today and I am very happy to report that he sounded great!  He described the procedures he had gone through and it didn’t sound like ANY fun at ALL, but he’s a brave boy and came through with flying colors!  Now, he’s at his sister-in-law’s with Susan, and they’ll just relax and take it easy for a few days.  He may feel okay, but he’s really been through a lot and he needs to rest and recuperate!  We’re thinking of you, Andrew!  We love you!
