Today, work was much quieter than yesterday. I worked on a few small projects, but my boss was in conference calls and meetings most of the day, so I got to finish my book (which was so lovely). I had a lot of printing to do, because I was supposed to update the files with the documents as of 3/31/8, but the color printer kept jamming, so I ended up asking the Fulfillment Department (we used to call it the “Copy” or “Repro” Department) to do the jobs instead. They are SO fast and they had it done in no time!
The Tamale Man (whose name I learned today is “Roberto!”) was in the lobby today, so I bought 10 cheese and 10 chicken and brought them home to Eric. We each had one for dinner. Eric had his with a small salad and I had mine with my leftovers from last night. Eric had some of my raviolis, so there really wasn’t much left, but BOY was it good (again!).
After dinner, I watched UGLY BETTY. It’s been a LONG time, because that show ended in the fall and the new season was, of course, delayed because of the strike. It’s so campy and fun. I love Betty!
I can’t believe tomorrow is Friday already. The week really flew by. My first week back at work. It won’t be my last, because they haven’t hired someone for my position yet, but it won’t be long, since they think they’re hiring internally. I will probably be asked to train the new person, but this job is so easy it should only take a day – maybe two. So, I will probably be finished at this job by early May -- Mid-May the latest -- but probably before. I will certainly miss this group a lot. They are all so nice to me. It’s really amazing to find such a friendly group.
Today one of the girls told me I was lucky to work in this department, because some of the other departments are really stuck up and no fun at all. I told her I was surprised to hear that, because this department is SO great that I just assumed the whole office was the same. I know the Fulfillment Department/Mail Room is just as great and fun and nice, and it seems that everyone I deal with is wonderful, so I was surprised to hear that there are some that aren’t. Well, it’s been fun while it lasted. I can’t believe I’ve gotten to temp here for over three months!
Eric’s been pursuing a few job leads, but nothing has happened. I’m not really surprised, as he already tried really hard a few months ago and I was pretty sure the job situation hasn’t changed since then. I want to encourage him to step outside his comfort zone and try something else, but he’s determined to do steam-fitting or pipe-fitting, so we’ll just have to see what happens.
I’m really looking forward to the weekend, because my cousin – Audrey – who we visited in Las Vegas in October – is coming back to San Diego for a vacation! She was here for a few days in December (right before we left for South Carolina). She will be visiting her friend, Bonnie, but I’m going to take her out for the day on Saturday! We’re supposed to go to a winery, which I’ve never done in my life. I actually have a memory of going to a winery with my parents, but I was underage, so I didn’t drink. I’m not counting that, since I’m not sure it even happened and – even if it did – I didn’t get to taste any wine!
