Yes, I read 381 pages in two days. I enjoyed VIOLETS ARE BLUE, but I don't think I'll be reading anymore James Patterson anytime soon. It's just not my style of book. Meanwhile, I read most of yesterday and today at work. Think I’m earning my keep? I don’t think so! I notice people see me reading every time they pass my desk – and my boss has been in all week – he just doesn’t give me much to do!
Today I got a call from a guy in our Milwaukee office who needed help with a big mailing of letter to clients. I told him I’d do whatever he needed and he said he’d get back to me. Never happened! When I was about to leave I finally got an email from him, saying he’d send me what I need tomorrow afternoon. So, I guess I have something to look forward to!
After I finished my book I really didn’t have anything else to do, so I read every single article on YAHOO NEWS, and watched a lot of news videos. One good thing about my computer crashing is that the guy gave me sound (which I never had before), so now I can actually watch stuff and hear what the people are saying!
There’s a woman in the office who lives almost an hour away from Del Mar. She has a small farm with chickens and goats. She was selling ½ dozen eggs in the office for $2 and they were pulled from under the chicken’s behinds this very morning! I bought six and decided to make an omelette for dinner. I sautéed spinach, mushrooms, and red onion and then added the eggs and cheddar cheese. It was SO delicious. The yolks of the eggs were SO yellow. Really fresh.
I guess the best way to taste it would have been to just scramble, or poach, or soft boil it, but I wanted to use up some leftover veggies, since I’ll be buying all fresh stuff on Saturday or Sunday. I love a 3-minute egg and I just may have one tomorrow! Can you soft boil an egg in the microwave? If I could, I’d bring it to work. Four of them are light brown, and I used two that were a pale green. Isn’t that amazing? No white eggs in this bunch!
She actually sent around an email with a picture of chicks that just hatched. She’s so lucky. I told her I’d LOVE to have a pet chick, but I don’t think they’d like me having a chicken in my apartment complex!
My boss will be in for half the day tomorrow and then he’s flying somewhere to go to a wedding. The only book I have right now is some STEPHEN KING short stories, but Eric said they’re not that good. I guess it will give me something to read, which is better than nothing!
Eric was reading a book called THE RUINS, which they’re making into a movie, but he quit after about 100 pages and said it was horrible. He said the author goes into too much detail and went on for 15 pages about one thing. I thought about trying that one, but it’s not my kind of book anyway, so I’ll take his word for it!
I’m definitely going to the library on Saturday. I need to get a library card and start taking books out, instead of buying them. I’m just reading too much lately and it’s not economical!
This week really flew by. I can’t believe tomorrow is Friday already, and I also can’t believe today is May 1st. Mother’s Day is coming, along with lots of birthdays this month. I have to hit the card store on Saturday, too!
