Cut & Color!

You know your day is boring when the highlight is getting your hair cut and colored!

My day was pretty boring, except when the “new girl” came to have a meeting with me and the boss.  He’s going to be out Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, so I’m going to start training her.  She is cute and sweet and I think we’re going to have a little fun, too!

He has a long list of things he wants me to teach her, but would only give us a few subjects, because he said he doesn’t want to “overwhelm her,” which I thought was very nice of him.  She is transitioning slowly, and she will be training someone to replace her, so I guess he figures she can only teach and learn so much at the same time.

So, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, she’ll be joining me for three hours – from 12-3pm.  I’m excited, because I’ll have something to do – for sure – and I know I’m a good teacher, so I’ve no qualms about instructing her on the procedures and processes of the job.

The boss cut out at 1:00pm today.  I finished COMEBACK (which was really great) and started on BOLT, another Dick Francis, of course!

I was lucky enough to cut out at 4:30pm, so I was home a little before 5:00pm.  I only stayed about a half hour, because I had to go to HAIRSPRAY in HILLCREST for my cut and color.

John was his usual adorable, talkative self.  He really is very sweet, and he does such a great job on my hair!  I think my haircut last time was one of the best I’ve ever had.  It just seemed like every hair fell into place perfectly.  When I told him so, he said it was just because I’m now getting a haircut every month, which I never did before.  I used to get a trim every 3 or 4 colorings, and I realize that when my hair gets bushy it gets out of control.  I much prefer keeping it shorter, trimmed and in control, but I still think it’s the quality of the haircuts, not just the frequency of the haircuts, and I told him so!

Eric went to COSTCO again today, mainly to get two fans (they came two to a package).  He set one up in the living room – pointing right at him – and one in the bedroom on his night table, which moves the air around the bedroom beautifully.  Combined with the ceiling fan in the dining room, there’s a nice breeze pretty much everywhere and we really need it – because it’s HOT out!!!!  I can't believe it, but we're having another heat wave in San Diego!

He also bought a lot of great food at COSTCO, including this year’s first batch of cherries, some hummus and pita bread, mango salsa, and gum!

He also rode his bicycle to pick up my paycheck.  It was hot out, so I was pretty surprised that he rode anywhere, but it’s only 3 miles each way and there aren’t any hills, so it was a really easy ride.

When I got back from my cut and color we had a snack-style dinner of hummus, salsa and some toasted pita bread, along with some cherries.  It was all so fresh and delicious.  I started watching TV at about 7:30pm and fell into a dead sleep.  Eric woke me a little after 8:00pm, but I fell right back to sleep and woke up again at 9:30pm.  If I had work tomorrow I’d be in big trouble, because there’s no way I’m falling back to sleep at a decent hour, but since it’s Friday and I can sleep in tomorrow – no harm done!

I came out to the living room and worked on the computer for a while, while Eric was watching ULTIMATE FIGHTING (which I hate – so violent, with lots of blood).  After a while I went back into the bedroom and watched GHOST WHISPERER.

We have no plans for the weekend.  It’s supposed to stay hot, hot, hot, so staying in the apartment is not a great idea.  It just gets hot and stuffy in here.  Maybe I’ll convince Eric to go for a drive somewhere, or take in an air-conditioned movie!  It's too darn hot.  Too darn hot!
