Today there was a small craft show sponsored by the NORTH PARK CRAFT MAFIA at FILTER a new coffee shop in North Park. There were about a dozen vendors, both inside and outside the large corner coffee shop. The coffee shop was called THE OTHER SIDE when I visited there two months ago (for another small craft show), but they recently changed owners and now it’s called FILTER.
I started my day by going food shopping. When I was done and got all the packages put away, I went back to the card store, because I got lots of cards for birthdays and anniversaries, but left without a Mother’s Day card! I picked out a beauty (my Mom deserves it!).
I got to the craft show at around 3:00pm. I was so glad that I didn’t decide to sell there today (I had considered it). I spoke to a few of the girls and they told me they weren’t selling anything. One girl said they didn’t really advertise it very much and, although there was a constant flow of customers in and out of the shop, they weren’t much interested in buying crafts.
It was very disappointing because, after all, Mother’s Day is next week and I figure that would help sales, but it really didn’t. The highlight of my trip was seeing Bambi again, the gorgeous, sweet, delicate, loving, and beautiful Chihuahua that belongs to one of the vendors. I just adore her!
After that I just came home and watched some episodes of AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL. Every cycle there are episodes I’ve never seen, so I always get to catch a new one here or there and, if I’ve seen it before, I fast-forward to the photo shoots, which is my favorite part. I love seeing their “best shots” at the judging and seeing who will go home each week.
Eric watched a lot of basketball today, which made him very happy, and also read some of his new book. He said he’s enjoying it, so I guess I made a good choice!
I made Eric an easy dinner – low salt turkey and Alpine Lace low salt swiss with some avocado on toast with some no-salt potato chips. I know he’d rather have low salt, but I’m really trying to reduce his cholesterol and his blood pressure, so I’m trying to reduce bad fats and salt. It’s amazing how much salt is in certain products. There’s even salt in ice cream!
Eric said he’s going to start taking his vitamins again, which is a good thing, and he also used to take fish oil and red rice yeast, which are both good for reducing cholesterol. The next time he gets tested I’m sure he’s going to have much better readings!
We watched an episode of MONK that I hadn’t seen for a long time and Eric had never seen. It was about a Playboy (like Hugh Hefner – with the mansion and all the girls) who murders the man who wants to stop the publication of his magazine, because it’s losing money. It was so funny, because Monk is so inhibited and couldn’t bear to look at all the near-naked women! Gary Cole, who played the father in the BRADY BUNCH movies, was the playboy. He recently became a regular character on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. He's a great actor!
I’m going back to work tomorrow, but each week I think it might be my last (and this really could be it!). It’s not like they have to give me two weeks notice, like with a regular job, so they could just tell me on Friday night to come back the next week. I won’t be heartbroken when it’s over, because I don’t love it very much, but it is the easiest job and commute I’ve ever had, and you can’t be happy to see THAT end!
