This is late because – once again – my server was down. They say I need to “clear my cache” but it’s ridiculous, because if it WAS my cache, why would it work perfectly 12 hours later? Wouldn’t I HAVE to clear it, before it would work again? Someone PLEASE explain!
I was pretty busy today, but I STILL managed to finish another book! This one was really good and I brought it home for Eric to read. I think he’ll really enjoy it. I am sure he’d love DICK FRANCIS, too, but he’s just not into the whole England/Horseracing thing. Anyway, when I told him it was all about a sex scandal and takes place in NY, he was all for it!
So, today I found out exactly what I’ll be doing at work starting on July 1. I thought I was going to work exclusively in HR. Then, my ride told me that another group had specifically requested me! They decided that they could “share” me and I’ll be splitting my time 50/50 in HR and this new group, which is right across the floor from where I now sit.
The good news is I really like everybody in both groups – HR and the new group – so it should be great. Also, I may not be doing as much reading as I do now (maybe only during my lunch hour!), but at least the days will fly by. Just this week being really busy helping out HR while still sitting with my old group, the days have really gone by quickly and I’ve enjoyed the work a lot.
My boss was in from 9:00am – 1:00pm, but the only conversation we had was about how great RED CAT is and how much I was enjoying it. Wait until I tell him I finished it! He was in meetings all day and will be away at meetings tomorrow and Friday.
My trainee has just a few more days with me, so tomorrow and Friday we are going to review a lot of the stuff I previously showed her and taught her. I will still be around, if she has any questions, but I know she wants to be able to do as much on her own as possible.
Here’s another complaint I have about her – and I know most of you are not going to believe your ears: she talks too much! I know, how could anyone talk more than I do? I SWEAR, she does. Sometimes she talks too much, because she’s going on and on about her new boyfriend and all the gory details, which I could not care LESS about.
Sometimes, it’s actually about work. I think she just likes the sound of her own voice, because she’ll say the same thing 8 different ways. Sometimes, I actually just go back to what I was doing and let her talk to my back, because I feel like if I have to sit there and look at her and listen to her go on and on and on, I’ll just die.
Other times, I’ll just cut her off. For instance, I’ll tell her something that she needs to do, and she’ll go on and on about the way she wants to do it, and the way she thought it should be, and the way she might do it in the future, and so on, and so forth. Finally, I’ll just cut her off with something like, “This is YOUR job now – you do it however you want!"
She’s really starting to get on my nerves, so I’m happy that I only have three more days sitting next to her! She’s really nice, and sweet, and maybe I’m the only one who will have a problem with her rambling, but I honestly doubt it. I know it won’t go over well with the boss. I learned very quickly that he wants you to get in, say what you need to, ask what you need to, and give him what you need to, and then get the hell out. He doesn’t mind sitting and chatting, but if it’s business-related, he wants to do the talking. He’ll answer any questions you have, or explain anything he needs to, but he is NOT going to want to listen to her long-winded descriptions of what she’s planning to do. She’ll find THAT out soon enough!
Anyway, I have a lot of fun with all the other people in my group and I have something amazing to tell you all! The other day I sneezed and someone said “Bless You!” I couldn’t believe it! So, the next time someone else sneezed, I said “God Bless You!” Now, when I hear a sneeze, I respond. I’m no longer holding myself back and the response has been very positive. I’m getting “Thanks!” I don’t know what happened or why, but I’m glad that etiquette is not dead and gone!
When I arrived home I asked Eric when he wanted to go out to celebrate his birthday, which is tomorrow (6/26). I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow (just a check-up), so I didn’t know if he wanted to go out tonight, tomorrow – after my doctor’s appointment, or Friday. Saturday we are going to see BYE BYE BIRDIE at the SAN DIEGO MUSICAL THEATRE and will definitely eat out before. The last time we went we found a cute little Italian place right across the street from the theatre, so I’m going to make a reservation. But that doesn’t count! I want to go out and have a nice Birthday Dinner!
Eric said he’d like to go tomorrow, when I got back from the doctor, so tomorrow it is. Now, I just have to figure out where. I want to take him someplace new – someplace different! I have to figure it out at work tomorrow!
We made a big salad together and also had MORNINGSTAR corn dogs (which are pretty good if you haven’t had a real hot dog in about 10 years! I also made my salad for tomorrow and we had enough leftover salad for Eric to have lunch tomorrow, too!
There wasn’t much on TV, so we watched AMERICA’S GOT TALENT, which I do find very entertaining, and then I watched SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE while Eric worked out. Then, I went to sleep and Eric stayed outside and watched TV. I’ve really been going to bed a lot earlier and it’s helped me get out of bed a lot easier in the morning!
