I'm Too Old For This!

I was so tired this morning.  It was really pitiful.  Yesterday was the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon in San Diego – 26 miles through the city – and you’d think I ran it.  That’s how exhausted I was this morning from the whole weekend of sightseeing.  I just did so much more walking and running around and driving and eating out than I usually do and it really had an effect on me!
The only thing that got me out of bed was the fact that I had someone picking me up.  If I was driving myself, or taking the bus, I definitely would have been late!

Thank goodness I had a really easy day.  The only hard thing was training.  I know this is impossible to believe, but my trainee talks too much!  I know, how could ANYONE talk more than me, but it’s true.  She talks so much and so fast that I can hardly get a word in edgewise.  The truth is, I really want to train her, and if I’m not training her, I’d much rather be reading my book than listening to her tell me about her younger sister’s issues.

By the time she leaves after 3 hours, I have a mini-headache each day and it takes me about ½ hour to relax and decompress.  The good thing is, I only have 8 more days, because then she’s going to start 10:00am – 3:00pm, but they’re going to move my computer to the empty cube next to the one I’m in now.  I’ll sit in the empty cube, and she’ll start working at my old desk.  So, even though she’ll be there a lot more, I’ll be in my own cubicle and will only have to work with her if there’s actually something do to.  She’ll mostly be on her own and I may start helping out in HR, so I may not even be around much.

Anyway, I have to reiterate that she’s REALLY sweet, and very smart, but it’s just exhausting to be around her for 3 hours at a time in a space that’s around 9 square feet!

There’s a woman in the office whose mother has a “limon” tree.  She brings in a bag of limons every few weeks.  I swear – the fruit is a combination of a lemon and a lime.  It’s yellow like a lemon, but it’s perfectly round like a lime and tastes more like a lime.  It’s smells so delicious that I just sit with it on my desk and pick it up and sniff it every once in a while.  As I walked by everyone’s cubicle you can see one or two limons on everyone’s desk.  It’s so nice and everyone enjoys them.

I remember when my Dad used to have a fabulous garden in Whitestone, before they moved to Florida.  Talk about a green thumb – my Dad has a green hand – two of them actually!  He used to give us so many fresh veggies and we couldn’t possibly eat them all, so I used to bring them to the office and give out tomatoes, eggplants, basil, cucumbers or zucchini.  Everyone always appreciates fresh produce!

When I got home I immediately did 2 loads of laundry.  I didn’t get a chance to do it over the weekend and had lots of my work clothes that needed to be cleaned.  Eric would be happy to do it for me, but I like to do my good clothes myself.  He knows not to wash anything but my pajamas and underwear!

I had a NUTRISYSTEM pizza for dinner and Eric had a regular entrée.  I watched an episode of EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION that I had never seen.  There’s a lot of repeats on TV now, but since I didn’t start watching the Fall Season until the beginning of December, I missed all the Sept./Oct./Nov. episodes and I’m now catching up.  Last night’s DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES was, again, very informative.  It’s filling in all the missing pieces and solving a few puzzles!

Eric and I watched some of KATHY GRIFFIN's comedy special: EVERYBODY CAN SUCK IT.  She’s really funny, but I already knew a lot of her routines, because our friend, Susan, tells Kathy’s jokes better than Kathy.  I remember laughing SO hard from the way Susan did her routines.  Eric remembered, too.  We laughed just remembering Susan’s version!

Tonight I’m definitely going to bed early.  First of all, I didn’t take a nap, so I should be ready for sleep at a decent hour.  Also, I’m going to watch MTV’s LEGALLY BLONDE: THE SEARCH FOR THE NEW ELLE WOODS.  I’m SO excited about this show, because I love reality shows, I love LEGALLY BLONDE and I love dancing and singing!  Should be fun!
