As far as I can tell, no one slept well last night! Eric and I both tossed and turned a lot. My ride told me she and her husband were awakened in the middle of the night by a phone call (wrong number) and she couldn’t fall back to sleep. Jimmy told me he couldn’t fall asleep. A few people at work mentioned how tired they were, because they didn’t sleep well. If it was a full moon, I’d understand, but it wasn’t. So, what’s up with THAT?
I thought that even though I was exhausted this morning my day would be pretty easy and relaxing, because my boss was away and we only had one big project to complete. Unfortunately, I forgot that today was Expense Report day, so we had to complete that, too.
Also, they finally have me access to the folders I need to use for my new HR job, so I had a lot of work to catch up on for them. It's enjoyable work, but kept me busy for hours.
I did manage to finish my latest DICK FRANCIS book today, but I only had about 40 pages left, so I really didn’t read much. I was going to start my newest book, which my boss lent me – RED CAT – “a John March mystery" by Peter Spiegelman. It’s about John March, a PI in NY. It sounds right up my alley, and takes place in NYC, so I’m very excited to start it, but I didn’t get a chance today!
My boss was so funny when he gave the book to me, because he warned me that the subject matter was of a sexual nature and didn't want to have any problems with sexual harrassment. I simply said, "Forewarned!" and we both laughed. I thought it was pretty cool of him to give me a book to read, because he sees me reading at my desk all the time and knows I love a good mystery!
So, I had the book on my desk and one of the guys I work with said, "What's that pornography you've got there." I said, "The boss gave it to me to read!" We laughed about it, too!
The day flew by and I got so much accomplished. When I got home I wanted to take a nap, but I resisted, because I knew it would be better to just go to bed early. We had a relatively early dinner of leftover fish from last night with more fresh asparagus. Delicious two days in a row. Eric is quite the cook!
There was nothing on TV tonight and I had recorded RV, so we started watching it. It has a great cast – Robin Williams, Cheryl Hines, Jeff Daniels and Kristen Chenoweth – but we only watched about 45 minutes and had had enough. We could relate to everything, but it was too frustrating and too stupid. I just didn’t want to spend the time.
I left Eric in the bedroom watching DIRTY JOBS and came out to blog. I am pretty tired and I’m going to get to bed by 10:00pm the latest, so I should be in much better shape tomorrow.
I don’t anticipate tomorrow to be anywhere near as busy as today, so I should be able to start RED CAT. The boss will be in tomorrow afternoon and Wednesday morning, but will then be out Wednesday afternoon and Thursday and Friday.
I’m working more and more for HR and less and less for my current group. I really enjoy all the people in the group, so I’m sorry I will be moving to another floor on July 1st. Everyone on the floor is fun, friendly, supportive and hard-working. I’m sure it will be the same on my new floor – at least I hope so!
