Eric's in New Mexico!

I woke up without too much trouble today, even though I went to sleep at midnight.  I just wasn’t tired after my long nap.  I fell asleep easily (I usually do), but I woke up at about 4:45am – an hour before the alarm.  Why does that happen?  It seems so unfair to not get the few hours sleep I’m actually able to get!

I drove to work today, because I have my appointment at 5:15pm – and it’s just a few exits south on I-5 of the office.  I get so frustrated when I drive, because most of San Diego early morning radio seems to be DJs talking about what THEY think is interesting (which I really don’t), so I finally remembered to bring some CDs in the car.  This time I brought all show tunes – THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, THE FULL MONTY, HAIRSPRAY, and A CHORUS LINE.  That should keep me happy for a long time!

I played DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS on the way to work.  It’s a fun, happy musical – just right to start the day!

I had a pretty easy morning in KRM.  I was working on one project, which was not that bad, and I also finished a mailing I had to do.  The morning flew by, and then I was in HR for the afternoon!

I worked on the new HR database all afternoon.  It’s tedious work, but most everyone in the department is pitching in, and it’s getting done.  Another week and we’ll be up-to-date.

I had my appointment at 5:15pm.  She was, as usual, very helpful.

When I got home, I waited for Eric’s call.  He was driving through some bad weather in New Mexico.  I told him to call me back when he stopped for the night.  After I hung up, I immediately started two loads of laundry and then made a salad for dinner.

Eric called back when he stopped for the night.  He was pretty sure he was now in Arizona.  I thought he was going to take it easier coming back to California – driving less and driving slower, but it’s just three days and he’s almost all the way back already!  He’s amazing.  Most people take at least a week to cross the country – he’s done it twice in less than 5 days!  He should become a trucker, because he certainly has the ability to drive for hours without stopping.  I think he’s been driving about 14-16 hours a day!

I watched SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE from last night, and then LAST COMIC STANDING.  I voted online for the only female in the comic competition – Iliza Schlesinger.  She’s really funny and I enjoy her style.  She’s doing really well and has already won two weeks in a row.  Tonight, all seven performed and it was the first time the voting was open to the public.  I rarely vote for these shows – I used to vote for AMERICAN IDOL, and DANCING WITH THE STARS, but not many others.  I just figure if I can vote online it’s a lot easier than dialing in and getting busy signals!

Tomorrow is finally Friday!  I will be upstairs in KRM in the morning, and then I have to go across the street to the Marriott, because the firm is holding a Health Fair there and all the girls in HR are volunteering to work a few hours in the afternoon.  I’m on the 12-2 shift with a few other girls.  They’re going to have all sorts of tests, mini-massages (I want one SO badly), and lots of information about how to get and stay healthy.  It should be pretty interesting.  I remember my old firm (PwC) used to have these kind of things.  They would test your body fat, your stamina, blood pressure, etc.

They’re letting everyone wear jeans tomorrow, so they can be comfortable for the fair and they’re even giving out raffles!  I guess they’ll do anything to get people to go!

I have absolutely no plans for the weekend, but I figure Eric will be back soon, so we’ll have a happy reunion!  I’m really nervous about him coming back.  I want things to be better so badly and it’s been such a long time since we’ve both been really happy together.  I’m nervous, and excited, and scared, and happy – all at the same time!
