I couldn’t get out of bed any earlier than usual, but I still managed to post my blog in about 20 minutes, before I went to work. I would have loved to have the pictures with the blog entry, but I was too tired last night and didn’t have time this morning, so here they are. Enjoy!

Is that Liv Tyler? No, it's our Kris!
Could there be three more beautiful girls visiting San Diego?
Work was busy, but fun. The woman who was on vacation came back yesterday with an earache and left before 9:00 to go to the doctor. She never came back yesterday, and she wasn’t in today either. I don’t know if she’ll make it tomorrow, but it’s going to be pretty crazy when she gets back, because we keep putting things off until her return.
Things in HR are definitely hopping, because they posted a few new jobs in the last few days and people send resumes like crazy. I was complaining (when we all went down to the coffee cart this afternoon) that people used to send their resumes more selectively when they actually had to put it in an envelope with a stamp. Now, they just attach it to an email and click “Send.”
It makes it too easy and, therefore, people apply for jobs for which they’re not qualified. Why do that? Do they think they’re going to fool somebody? Do they think we won’t notice that they have no qualifications? I told the girls that I’m going to charge a $5 surcharge for every resume submitted (payable on PAYPAL) and we can put it towards the coffee cart. They all thought that was a great idea!
The girls go down to the coffee cart every afternoon. I hardly ever go, but when I do I always like to get my coffee first, so I can get back to my desk. So, the other day they said, “Where are you running?” So, I said, “I get paid by the hour. I need to get back to work!” They all said I was crazy. So, today, they said I had to get my coffee last, so I would stay with them all through the wait.
Of course I got mine first again and ran away, before they could stop me. I just feel it’s irresponsible to stand around for a 20 minutes enjoying the conversation. I’m just a temp!
Eric picked me up at 4:45pm and we went to see our therapist. She’s really helping us sort out the situation. Eric wants to go back to NY and I support him totally. He really wants me to go back with him, but I told him I’m just not ready to do that. So, he is going to go back by himself (again), but this time he’ll fly and we’ll ship his stuff. He’ll stay with his sister, Susan, for at least a few weeks, until he gets work and can get settled. He’s not excited about it, but I think he realizes it’s the only thing to do, because he’s just so unhappy here. I’m not happy about him leaving, but I think it’s much better than him staying here and being miserable all the time. I can’t live that way either. It’s no good for either of us.
After our session we went back to Pat & Oscar’s for dinner. I had one more coupon which gave us a free dinner. Eric had spicy wings and a Caesar salad and I had a half veggie pita and a Greek salad. Unfortunately, the veggie pita was really a SALAD pita – it was just more salad in a half pita bread. I wish the girl had explained what it was, because they shouldn’t call it a veggie pita – they should call it a salad pita, so you know what you’re getting. I just assumed the veggie’s would be roasted or cooked in some way.
When we got home I watched the latest episode of PROJECT RUNWAY, in which the challenge was designing an outfit for a New York drag queen. I was thrilled to see a drag queen I actually know – Varla Jean Merman – whose act I was lucky enough to see years ago. Our friend, Ricky, used to play piano for Varla Jean, and he traveled a lot with her, doing shows all over the country. There was another drag queen I had seen a long time ago – Hedda Lettuce. She’s been around for a LONG time. The best part was that Varla Jean’s costume won the challenge and she got more TV time than anyone else!
The other cool thing was that they did their fitting out of drag, so you got to see what they really looked like. It is really amazing how they transform themselves with hair and makeup. Varla Jean is actually quite adorable, and he’s gorgeous in drag. Some of them look so different you wouldn’t even be able to guess which queen they are! It was a great episode. I was hoping to see two “girls” I know much better and simply adore – Lypsinka and Miss Coco. I don’t know where they were, and why they weren’t included in this episode, but I can only assume they weren’t available! Actually, I don’t think either of them are Drag Queens. I don’t know what they call themselves, but they’re more performers than queens. Maybe Jimmy can fill me in!
Anyway, I’m exhausted and I’m going to sleep. Tomorrow’s finally Friday and I have to drive myself to work because Elsa has a 3-day weekend.
