Breakfast With The Boys!

We got up around 8:00am and I hung out and talked to Ilene for a while, before jumping in the shower.  We left a little after 9:00am, because we had plans to meet Joe at his apartment at 9:30am.  We were going to a great breakfast place called THE ALCOVE Café and Bakery with Joe and Miguel.

The place was great.  Lots of tables outside with big umbrellas.  Inside, you placed your order, and took a number, which you placed on the table.  They brought your food out to you.

I had crab cakes benedict, with spinach.  It also had a lovely arrangement of fresh fruit on the side.  Eric had the “country breakfast” with pancakes and eggs.  Joe had an omelet and Miguel had some sort of pannini sandwich.  Everything was delicious.  We sat outside, under an umbrella and it was a gorgeous, sunny yet breezy morning in L.A.

There's never a lull in the conversation with Joe and Miguel and Eric and I had a great time, as usual.  Our meal was over too soon, and we had to get back to San Diego.  After breakfast the boys left us to run errands and we headed back to I-5.  Unfortunately, we hit a lot of traffic.  As usual, I fell asleep and Eric got us safely back to SD.  It was after 3:00pm by the time we got back!  We came upstairs and relaxed for a while.  I napped, but Eric just rested.

Then we took showers and headed back out to go to our friend, Bob’s.  Although he hasn’t officially moved into his new house yet, he was having some friends over and we were invited to join them.  We were anxious to see how the paint job came out, and some construction I had designed, but were also looking forward to the first party at his new place!

We stopped at a supermarket close by and brought crudite and dip, 2 kinds of chips, salsa and a cheese dip.  I got STARBUCKS (for a change) and we headed over to Bob’s.

Noah

He had another couple over, with their 4-year-old son and 4-month-old son, both of whom were adorable, sweet and beautiful.  I got to hold the baby a lot, and fed him a bottle, so of course I was in heaven.

Owen

We had lots of snacks, then ordered in a pizza, and sat outside on the patio in his backyard and enjoyed the view he has of the golf course.  We talked and laughed and enjoyed their company.

Then, his friend brought out a bottle of champagne and we toasted to Bob’s new house.  It was really sweet.  It’s such a great house, and the paint job looks beautiful, and all the work he's had done looks fabulous, and we know he’s going to be really happy there.  We talked about more ideas I have, and Bob has, and what he’s going to do next.  The place is really starting to look like home and he didn’t even move his furniture in yet!

There were some cabinets in the dining room area of the big open great room.  They might have been functional, but they were nothing to look at.  I asked Bob if he really needed that storage, and he admitted that he probably didn't, so I suggested that he knock them out and put in some decorative shelves for artwork and barware.  He loved the idea!

The guy who installed the shelves did a great job.  There are lights under the granite shelves, which shine through the glass shelves.  He also did a great faux finish on the back, combining the colors of paint used in the dining room/living room.  There's a little touch-up to be done and some more trim needs to be added.

Here's what's living right outside Bob's front door.  The web was about 6 feet across.  It is SCARY looking!!!!!

We left a little before 10:00pm and when we got home I immediately started blogging while Eric watched COMEDY CENTRAL in the bedroom.  I could hear him watching stand-up comics.

Unfortunately, we have a lot of running around to do tomorrow.  Because we were away all weekend, we need to do laundry, food shopping and a trip to COSTCO!  It will be a busy day, but at least I can sleep in!
