Remember that song, by the Bangles?  It was written by Prince and given to The Bangles who recorded it in 1984.  If you don’t remember it, or never even heard of it, click here.  This isn’t the original video, but it is the song they recorded way back when:

Anyway, it was just another Monday at the office.  Mondays are so funny.  There’s more conversation amongst co-workers, because everyone’s asking, “Did you have a nice weekend?” or “What did you do this weekend?”  Everyone’s commenting about how they’re not ready for another week, how much they hate Mondays, or how tired they are.

I used to hate Mondays when I worked in the city, but when I owned the shop I loved Mondays, because that was my only day off!  Mondays were my Saturdays!  I also loved Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays!  When I owned the shop, every day was a good day.

Now, the only reason I hate Mondays is because I hate getting up early, but I really don’t mind going to work or being in the office.  It’s so completely pleasant!  I believe if Eric had been so lucky – if he had found a job he enjoyed, and made friends, and had someplace pleasant to go every day, he’s be so much happier here.  I really believe that.  It’s just a shame he hasn’t been able to do that.

So, the woman who’s been training me at my morning shift was on vacation today (and I had no idea until I got there!).  The guy on the team kept me busy with a few projects and then I went down to HR.  There was a lot for me to do down there and the afternoon just flew by.  We’re almost done with inputting all the resumes into the database.  Now, we just have to do all the resumes that come in, going forward.  It was a huge job, but we all pitched in and got it done in record time!

When I got home, Eric showed me the two bicycles he had packed up.  He’s packing up all but one of his bicycles.  The sad, frustrating thing is that he unpacked all the bicycles, because he wanted to take them in the RV back to NY, and now he’s just packing them back up.  He has one bicycle that he uses to ride around San Diego, and the rest are going back into boxes.

He came into the bedroom to take a nap while I watched TV and we both ended up falling asleep.  When we woke up I put the Mahi Mahi in the oven.  Eric had prepared it beautifully with crushed pecans, and some wasabi mustard and lemon.  All I had to do was pre-heat the oven and put it in.  I also made us some of that Uncle Ben’s 90 second rice and we were eating a delicious meal in 15 minutes!

After dinner we watched an episode of MONK that Eric had never seen before.  I am always surprised that he hasn’t seen them all by now, but there are still a few.  There’s nothing much on TV tonight, so I watched some shows I had recorded during the week.

Eric went to MICHAEL’S this afternoon and got two cans of varnish for me.  He already put a few light coats on the vase and it looks beautiful!  I told the woman today that it was finished and it just needed to be varnished and she was so excited.  I hope she loves it.  It felt good to do something creative again and I have to make sure I don’t let as much time go by before starting my next project!
