I got to work thinking I could be in for a crazy morning, but my co-worker had completed the entire project yesterday afternoon. I could have kissed her! I did a few things and then told her I was totally caught up and asked if there was anything I could do. She said there really wasn’t anything and asked if I wanted to go down to HR for a few hours. I wasn’t going to work in HR at all, because I was only working 4 hours today, but she thought it would be fair for me to work upstairs from 8-10, and down in HR from 10-12. I agreed!
There were only a few girls in HR today – about 6 of the usual 10, but they were happy to see me! I got a lot accomplished in the 2 hours I was there and felt it would make it easier when I got back on Tuesday.
Elsa dropped me off at about 1:00pm and I just dropped off the mail and we went right back out. We went to the agency to pick up my two checks and I finally got to meet the laison between my agency and the firm. She was very nice and very appreciative of the job I’ve done for the past 7 months. We immediately drove to Citibank to deposit the checks and then drove to Pacific Beach to go to GRINGO’S CANTINA for lunch.
I had the shrimp burrito with the fish taco and Eric had the shrimp quesadilla, so we could share. Everything was really good. After lunch we headed back to Clairemont and Eric dropped me off at the shopping center to get a pedicure. When my pedicure was over (and I was totally relaxed and read the entire HUGE fall issue of VOGUE) Eric picked me up and we went to see PINEAPPLE EXPRESS. It was really funny. There were only six of us in the whole theatre, and we were all laughing hysterically. Seth Rogan is adorable and James Franco does a great job, too. The whole cast is great – Gary Cole and Rosie Perez, amongst others.
It’s amazing that we’ve seen three movies in just a week. We usually see three movies a year! There are a few more we want to see: MAMA MIA (me more than Eric!), DISASTER MOVIE, and HAMLET 2. We would have seen HAMLET 2 today, but the timing wasn’t right.
After the movie we came back home. We were just relaxing in bed and my sister, Audrey, called. She and I talked for over an hour, and Eric went into the other room to watch TV.
When I hung up with Audrey I came into the living room and we watched THE COLBERT REPORT and THE DAILY SHOW while I worked on the computer. At 9:15pm we went into the bedroom to watch the new episode of MONK.
I’m excited to go to Los Angeles tomorrow to see our cousins. It will be nice to get away for a day and Eric’s very excited to visit L.A. He’s in the apartment so much and he’s happy to get out and socialize.
We will probably get back to SD on Sunday afternoon and we will probably go to Bob’s to check out his new paint job. He is showing some friends the new house and he told us to come over, too, and he’ll order in a pizza. He showed me some pictures of the paint job and they looked beautiful. I’m anxious to see it “live and in person.” Eric is going to check out the flaws Bob spoke of and told him that if they were really bad he could fix them and then Bob could just roll over it and it would be fine, because the paint was so fresh.
Eric said that’s the best time to fix the flaws – right after the paint goes on, because it makes them show up and you can fix them easily, because the paint is fresh and the new paint will just blend right in. You can’t do that even after a few months, because the paint changes color after sitting on the walls for a while.
I love helping Bob decorate his house, and I’m looking forward to helping my other friend at work, too. It’s amazing how intimidated people are by decorating choices. They know what they like, but they’re too afraid it might be wrong, or it might not turn out the way they think. I think you have to go for it, and if you end up hating it, you can always repaint, but most of the time it will be great! Decorating is an adventure – just like life!
Oh -- by the way -- I am not bringing my laptop to L.A. and may not get a chance to blog Saturday night, so please be patient. I'll catch up eventually!
