I went to bed nice and early last night – 10:00pm. Eric went out to the living room to watch TV, and I fell asleep in 5 minutes. Unfortunately, I woke up at 4:30am – as usual. I started thinking about work – about my “big mistake” and I was so stressed.
When I got to work, I apologized profusely, and the guy was SO nice about it. He said it was no big deal and it was already resolved, but I saw a whole chain of emails, so I know it caused some problems. He also didn’t tell anyone that I made the mistake, but I was telling everyone! I just felt bad about it, and wanted them to know that it was the senile temp and not the fabulous employees!
I spent a lot of the morning double-checking all my work for the past month, making sure I didn’t make any other big mistakes. Thank goodness all was well. I was kind of bored, because this guy is so busy he doesn’t have time to give me much work, but he did give me a few projects, and I also got some work through emails, so the morning passed pretty quickly.
When I was leaving, I apologized again. He said I was the best and they were so happy I was there, and I shouldn’t worry about it anymore. That made me feel better and I went downstairs happy and relieved.
When I got down to HR they all told me they spent the morning looking at my website! They were talking about a picture I brought in yesterday – I forgot to write about it! You see, one of the girls got a gift from APPLEONE – the temp agency -- a mouse pad with a pocket for a photo. She gave it to me and I said I was going to put a picture in it and bring it to her.
Most of our pictures are still packed away in boxes, but I have my cabaret stuff in a file in our oak file cabinet, so I put the picture from my first flyer. In case you never saw it, or don’t remember (and who could blame you), all I’m wearing is a leopard shirt, sitting with one leg kicking up in the air, holding a black feather boa. It’s pretty racy! I knew they’d freak when they saw it, and I was right. First of all, I had much longer BROWN hair and looked MUCH younger. The picture was taken in 1991.
So, they passed it around and were all talking about it. Today, when I got downstairs, they wanted one of the girls (who was out yesterday afternoon) to see the picture, so I promised I would bring it back today. They also told me that they spent much of the morning on my website! Elsa had explained that I did crafts and had my own shop. They said, “You’re so multi-talented! You sing, you dance, you craft!” They said they loved my website. I was so happy! They were all very complimentary.
I worked on a couple of different projects and the afternoon flew by. I was meeting Robyn after work, so when Elsa dropped me off, I just got right in the car and headed back north. We met at VILLA CAPRI – Family Style Trattoria.
It was about 17 miles from the apartment and I was there in about 20 minutes. They had a really nice menu. I decided to get a four-cheese pizza and Robyn got tortellini. I was absolutely starving, because I only had a tiny container of cottage cheese and a little salad for lunch. I knew I’d be starving, and I was right! Even so, I brought Eric home 2 pieces of pizza (and he loved it!).
Robyn and I had a great time talking, filling each other in on what’s going on at work and at home, and enjoying the good food. I really wish Melissa could come out here, because she and Robyn are best friends, and she could visit with me AND Robyn, so it would really be a worthwhile trip! Unfortunately, she’s had so many health problems lately, so it’s really out of the question for a while.
When I got home, it was a little after 8:00pm. I gave Eric the pizza and he ate it right up. I opened the mail, and was thrilled to receive an adorable gift from Geri. She knows how I love rhinestones – and she bought me the word “Fabulous” in rhinestones, which you can iron on anything. She said in her note that “she has one word for me.” That really made my day! I don’t think I’ve got the guts to put it on a t-shirt or a jacket. Isn’t that too egotistical? Maybe I’ll make a pillow! Anyway, I love it!
There’s really nothing much on TV these days, except the Olympics. I do enjoy it, but only a little at a time. I just can’t watch it hour after hour. So, Eric and I have been watching anything else we can find that amuses us, and it motivates me to go to bed early! I’m hoping to get a full night’s sleep tonight – and actually sleep until the alarm goes off!
