One of the girls in HR was celebrating a birthday and, as usual, we had a party. She requested IN & OUT BURGER, so two of the girls went and picked up lunch for everyone. They only have burgers at IN & OUT BURGER, but they actually had grilled cheese, so I got that and french fries (not diet food, I know). The funny thing is, one of the girls told me it’s not really grilled cheese, it’s exactly like a cheeseburger, with the bun, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and cheese, but there’s no burger. She ordered the same thing as me.
That sounded great to me, and hers was just like that, but mine was just a bun with some cheese melted inbetween. It wasn’t grilled either. It looked like it was put in a microwave to melt the cheese. PLUS, by the time they got it back to the office it was cold. We all laughed and discussed the mystery of why one of the girls had the full sandwich with everything on it, and mine was just plain cheese and a bun. The girls who placed the order ordered two grilled cheeses. The only thing we could figure out is that two different people made them!
They felt bad and kept asking me how it was, and I didn’t want them to feel bad (especially since one of the girls was treating me), so I ate it and said it was good. At least the french fries were great!
We laughed a lot (as always) and everyone went around the table and told what they were doing this weekend, which started lots more conversations. I told the girls that I had never met such a great group of girls who support each other, work so well together, laugh so much, and are such a great team. They were all pleased to hear it.
We finished with a delicious sheet cake with a tropical theme. I had a small piece, but I could have eaten half the cake. One of the girls’ friends made it and it was SO good!
So, here’s the latest scoop on the RV. We have been told that if you have the original title and the original lien release letter, you can sell it with a lien on it. We don’t really have a lien on the RV, but the DMV in NY messed up and issued us a new title with the old lien from the previous owners. We thought we’d have to get a new title, which takes weeks, but now we do not think we need to.
The old owners talked to the bank and the bank was supposed to send a new original lien release letter to their branch in San Diego. Eric’s been calling that branch every day, asking about the letter, but it didn’t arrive. Then, today, the old owners (and they ARE old) called to say the letter was sent to THEM instead of the bank here, so now THEY have to send it to US and WE will mail it to the buyer.
Meanwhile, the buyer was coming today. He said he was willing to pay cash and take the RV with the signed title and the copy of the lien release and we’d mail him the original when we got it. Made sense. Sounded good. Unfortunately, he couldn’t get a ride here today, so he’s supposed to come tomorrow. I copied a BILL OF SALE from the internet and that, combined with a copy of the signed title, is all the documentation we will need.
We already took off the plates and I will surrender them by mail on Monday, if the RV goes tomorrow (and we REALLY hope it does!).
When I got home from work I took a nap. I really needed it. When I woke up, I worked on the computer and we had corn dogs. Then, we watched the new episode of MONK – his 100th episode! It was really great, and they brought back a lot of characters from past episodes. We really enjoyed it (as usual!). I can’t recommend this show enough. It’s funny, sweet, and has really great writing and wonderful actors.
I wrote about our niece, Melissa, weeks ago, because she was ill, is still not well. She will be having an operation next Wednesday. It turns out that the problem relates to an accident she had when she was 12. Her liver was badly damaged and they repaired it. Apparently, there is a problem with the repair (after 20 years) and now they have to operate to fix it. My poor, darling, sweet, Melissa. She has been through SO much these last 3 months. Can you imagine not being well and suffering from horrible symptoms for 3 months and they can’t help you?
Finally, they know what needs to be done and they’re going to do it. They DID diagnose her problem immediately when she was in the hospital in July, but they weren’t able to figure out what to do about it until now. Such a terrible, frustrating situation. I wish I was there with her in NY, but Eric will be there soon enough and he will visit her and let her know how much she is loved and missed by both of us.
We have no plans for the weekend, except I see a big celebration in our future if the RV sells tomorrow. Dinner and a movie? Maybe a trip to Pappalecco in Little Italy for some gelato. Who knows? I just know we’ll be happy and more lighthearted when that RV is out of the parking lot (and the PT is in!)
