I was so busy at work today that I didn’t email Jimmy once. That’s UNHEARD of. Jimmy and I usually email back and forth all day long. He wrote in the afternoon that he was worried about me, but I never saw it, because I was too busy to go on Yahoo.
He texted me tonight, because he was really worried, and I texted him back. I was at Bob’s house, working with the window treatment girl from Smith + Noble, but he probably forgot!
I called Eric at 8:00pm, because I knew I wasn’t going to get home for hours. He was disappointed that I had to get off the phone so quickly, but at that point the window treatment girl was giving us the prices (yikes!) and I had to be there to help. He sounded good and said work was going okay. I told him I'd call him tomorrow, while I'm waiting for the RV inspector!
The boss at my morning job got back today from a 4-week sabbatical and she’s leaving at 5:00am tomorrow for a 3-day conference, so you can imagine what my morning was like.
My afternoon was CRAZY, because there were 55 resumes emailed to me over the weekend and I had to print out as many as I could and get them processed. It was a nutty day, but always fun in HR. The girls are planning an HR happy hour before two of the girls go on sabbatical in October. We’re also planning to go see MAMA MIA on Friday night. They’re also planning another birthday party (with 11 girls in the group it seems it’s always someone’s birthday!). So, there was a lot of buzzing around and I was trying to get my work done and get in on the action, too!
Bob came to get me a little after 4:00pm and we went to his house. He had just moved in over the weekend and it was a bit of a mess, but you can see how great it’s all going to be once he has a chance to unpack.
The Smith + Noble girl was adorable and really knowledgable and helpful. He got roman shades and drapes in the living room, a coordinating roman shade in the dining room (you can see each window from the other room), natural woven bamboo shades in the den (on a huge picture window and panels that slide for a sliding door, and drapes in the master bedroom with more natural woven bamboo shades for the closet doors.
The closet doors there now are huge ugly wood sliders and they’re so hard to move and horrible to look at. He can keep the shades up all the time and they’re out of the way and his clothes are easily accessible, and then when company comes he rolls them down and – voila! – natural, beautiful treatments!
It’s costing him a fortune, but I told him it’s an investment in the house, and it’s something you don’t do very often, so you might as well get quality stuff. He wants a grown up house – and doesn’t want it to look like a college dorm, or a first apartment – so you have to spend money to get that effect.
It got much later than we expected, so we ordered in pizza, but only Bob and I ate. The Smith + Noble girl was too busy with her calculator, adding up the thousands of dollars this would all cost! She was a doll, and I was elbowing Bob after she left and telling him there’s nothing wrong with dating your window treatment girl! I DID hear him invite her to his housewarming party (the date is yet to be determined), so I guess he liked her, too!
Now I’m finally home, and I’m exhausted. So, I won’t even get to stay up to watch HEROES, or PRISON BREAK, or DANCING WITH THE STARS – all of which were on tonight! I’m going to have a lot of catching up to do!
