Mama Mia!

I had a crazy day today.  Really crazy.  First thing this morning, I faxed the title information with the lien release to the titling company who is handling the transaction for the buyer (through Escrow.com).  She called me a few hours later, and I was very nervous, but the only problem was that the fax was too dark, and she asked me to make a copy, lighten it, and resend.  I was SO relieved.

My relief was short-lived.  She called AGAIN in the afternoon and said there was a problem with the title, because the name on the Lien Release letter was different from the name on the title.  I explained that was because the Lien Release letter was for the PREVIOUS owners.  We never owed any money on it.  The DMV did not receive the information in time, so they put the lien on OUR title.  I had the Lien Release letter for the RV – with the matching VIN #, but it doesn’t matter, because the names don’t match.

I explained it all, and she was very nice.  She said she’d call California DMV and call me back.  She called back to say they wouldn’t accept it and the buyer would not be able to register it.  Woe is me.

Now – all these weeks later – we have to do what we were told to do in the beginning.  I have to send the title with the Lien Release letter to NY DMV and get a clean title without the Lien on it.  I know it will take WEEKS, but the buyer is willing to wait.  He’s been SO nice about it.  I was freaking out this afternoon and wrote him and he said, “Calm down, relax, take a breath.  We’ll get through this.  I’m not going anywhere, so we’ll just wait until you have the paperwork in order and then I’ll come and get it.”

He was so understanding and he’s very patient.  I feel very lucky that he is involved, because he is very organized and he’s doing everything to make this go smoothly.

Unfortunately, there was ANOTHER problem.  The inspector didn’t do a very good inspection, because we had told the buyer about 3 or 4 problems with the RV and the inspector didn’t mention ANY of them in his report!  Also, he told me he wouldn’t be moving or driving the vehicle (and he didn’t), but according to the buyer he was supposed to take it for a test drive in order to test a lot of the driving functions.  The buyer was offered another inspection or his money back, but he really wants another inspection, and I can’t blame him.  That means another morning off.  The office is going to HATE me.  I’ve been so distracted lately, taking time off, making calls, sending emails and faxes during work time.  I’m lucky they like me!

I was SO happy that tonight we were going out to dinner and the movies, because I really needed a night out.  We went to Caramel Valley to a nice shopping center and had dinner in a lovely Greek restaurant (how appropriate for the movie, which was filmed in Greece!).  We shared two appetizers and then shared a falafel platter.  The first appetizer was something I’ve never tried before.  Saganaki – a thick slice of Kesseri Greek cheese, seasoned and seared, then lit aflame at our table!  You eat it with grilled pita bread.  Oopah!  The other appetizer was a trio of dips – babaganoush, taramousalata, and hummus.  Yummus!

We had a great meal and it was a lot of fun hanging out with the girls.  We had a lot of laughs and there were so many things to talk about.  I spoke about Eric for a while and they were so sympathetic and really comforting.  They said they really don’t want me to leave San Diego and it will be so sad when I go.  I told them I felt the same way, and yet I knew I would be leaving before too long.

From the restaurant, we only had to walk about 100 feet and we were in the movie theatre.  It has 12 theatres and they’re all pretty small.  There were about a dozen people seeing MAMA MIA with us.  I really enjoyed it.  It was funny, sweet, and of course the music was great!  I thought Meryl Streep did a great job and she’s a really good singer!

Everyone complained about Pierce Brosnan’s singing, but I didn’t think he was so bad.  I had a lot of fun and am so glad we went.

Rosemary drove us all there, and then she dropped us back at the garage and Elsa took me home.  I got in a little after 10:00pm.  I’m exhausted, so I’m going to just get ready for bed and watch a little TV until my eyes close.

Tomorrow I’m going to try to get a mani/pedi (I need it badly), do laundry, and run some errands.  I decided I’m not going to go to Bob’s party.  I’m just not in a party mood.  I enjoy being with people, but these are all people from the office, and they’ll ask where Eric is, and I don’t feel like answering a lot of questions.  I’m slowly but surely opening up and telling more and more people that Eric is in NY, but I don’t want it to be a topic of conversation at Bob’s house!  I think I’ll just stay home and relax by myself this weekend.  I really want to do some decoupage!
