A Lovely Day In HR!

Yesterday I forgot to mention that I wore my new yoga clothes to my yoga class.  They made me look fat, but they fit perfectly and were VERY comfortable, so I decided I didn’t care how I looked.  There’s no one there I’m trying to impress, and the lights are SO dim and no one is really watching anyone else.  So, I wore them and they really worked great.

This morning I had time to go to STARBUCKS before I went to work.  I had a great morning.  Being in HR all day is a dream come true.  It’s as great as I imagined.  And they’ve adjusted the air conditioning, so now we’re not freezing all day!  Everything ran smoothly today.  We even took a picture this morning for an ID card and everything worked out fine!

I started training the other temp who is working in HR so that she can help me with the HR database we use.  She’s very fast on the computer (better than me!) and she picked it up right away and got a lot done.  It’s great, because she knows I’m going to NY for 2 weeks in November and she said, “If you teach me everything, then I can do it while you’re gone.”  Smart girl!  It’s true.  If I get her up and running then when I leave they’ll have her to do the work and won’t have to train anyone.

Saturday I’m going to Julian with Rosemary – my friend in HR.  It’s a little town East of San Diego that’s supposed to have great antiquing and crafts and also has a big Apple Festival in the fall and it’s all about the apples – especially apple pie!

Elsa had told me that I should go to Julian with Eric, but we never had a chance, so at least I’ll get to go with Rosemary.

I was thinking about Eric all afternoon, because I knew he was being moved at 3:30pm NY time.  They got everything from Susan’s garage to his new apartment in Whitestone, but then he went back to Susan’s, because he doesn’t have a bed yet!  I can tell Eric’s not too thrilled about being in the apartment, because I’m not there with him, but I think it will be great for him and will definitely keep him busy in the coming weeks while he’s looking for another job.  He can unpack, set up, and organize and finally have this things out of boxes after 4 weeks!

When I got home from work I changed shoes and turned around and went back out with my shopping cart.  I haven’t gone food shopping since last week and I really needed some veggies for my salads.  I got lots of great salad stuff and a beautiful piece of salmon steak for dinner.

I sprayed some Pam on tin foil on a baking sheet, put down the salmon steak and just put a little wasabi mayo on top.  It came out great.  I then cut it into pieces and put it into my salad (and the salad for tomorrow, too).  The only problem was that it had a LOT of bones, so I had to eat very carefully.

Tonight’s my reality show night.  I watched THE BIGGEST LOSER (which was on last night), AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL, PROJECT RUNWAY and TOP DESIGN.  I love Wednesdays!

I started working on one of my craft projects tonight.  The first thing I’m doing is the jewelry mosaic mirror and I already picked out most of the pieces I will use.  Now, I have to break off the clasps and backings, so that the pieces lie as flat as possible.
Tomorrow night I’ll start the gluing.

My brother-in-law Rich (my sister Lenae’s husband) is coming to visit on Friday night.  He’s sleeping over, but I’m leaving by noon on Saturday to go to Julian and I believe Rich has plans with some San Diego friends.  So, we’ll just have dinner together and hang out until it’s time to go to sleep.

I haven’t seen my family in over a year – when they came to see us in July, and I visited them in New Paltz right after we left NY.  We never saw each other often, because we both my sisters live upstate and I lived in Queens, but we usually saw each other at least 2-3 times a year, so this is a long stretch.

I’m so happy we’ll get to spend some quality time over Thanksgiving, when we’re at my sister’s house in New Paltz.  Too bad my parents won’t come up from Florida, but I can’t really blame them.  They’re afraid it will be too cold and traveling at that time of year is crazy.  Believe me, I’d rather not be going to NY in November either, but it’s unavoidable – Jessica’s getting married!

I have to close, because Conrad is singing his heart out.  He’s pretty quiet when I’m in the room and only tweets or chirps to get my attention, but when I’m out of the room he sings nonstop (while the TV’s on).  He’s trying to get my attention and it’s the cutest thing.  He misses me, because I’m out all day, and when I stay in the living room a lot he’s definitely lonely.  Gotta go.  Birdie calls!
