I was out the door early enough to hit CITIBANK and STARBUCKS before calling Eric and heading onto I-5 for the office. I started sneezing while I was in the car. I must have sneezed 20 or 30 times. Big sneezes. Powerful sneezes. I didn’t know what it meant, but I didn’t like it!
By the time I got to work and settled in at my desk, I was sneezing and my nose was SO stuffed. I kept “schnuckling” (that’s the word my sister, Audrey, used to use for when you try to clear your nose by breathing in, instead of blowing your nose and getting it all out) and then I’d blow my nose. It would just get stuffed again and I’d have to blow it or schnuckle some more.
This went on long enough for all the girls around to ask if I was okay. I told them I was having a bad allergy day, and they all agreed that they were suffering, too. I don’t know if this is “the season” in San Diego (I wasn’t here last October), but I had the worst allergy day I’ve had since I got here almost a year ago!
Finally, Rosemary gave me an over-the-counter Claritin-D and, although it made me a little “speedy,” it dried me up and I could breathe again and I felt SO much better. As Jimmy so humorously put it, “Peppy + speedy = wacky good time!
The only problem was that I was a little speedy, and there was nothing to do! It was SUCH a slow work day. I finished cleaning. I finished organizing. I finished filing. There are only 3-4 resumes a day coming in, because we’ve filled almost every single job! There are also two other temps working right now (one is working with me, and the other is an HR temp, who does HR consulting), so they’re covering a lot of the work, too. When the two girls went on sabbatical, I had no idea they would be hiring TWO other temps and I thought I’d be SO overwhelmed and busy. Turns out, I’m bored!
At 4:00pm the girl who is my direct superior came over and said, “Let’s get out of here! We both left and I was so happy, because I got home and was able to lie down before yoga. I wasn’t blowin’ and sneezin’ anymore, but I didn’t feel that great.
I got up around 6:30pm, got dressed and went to yoga. As usual, it was great. It does really make you serene!
When I got home I had a bowl of tomato bisque and watched DANCING WITH THE STARS. Cloris Leachman finally got eliminated tonight – and not a moment too soon! Then I watched ELI STONE, which is SUCH a great show.
Yesterday, I wrote about Halloween and how some of the girls in HR were dressing up and some weren’t. I had mentioned that I wanted to dress up, but didn’t have a costume. My direct superior brought two costumes to work today – Raggedy Ann and a witch costume. Neither one is really up my alley – the Raggedy Ann is too cute and the witch costume is too cliché. Anyway, I took the witch costume, brought it home and tried it on. It does nothing for my figure, but at least I’ll be “in the spirit” so to speak.
I was thinking that maybe I’d pile on a lot of rhinestone jewelry and go as a “rich witch” – get it? At least that would put a “Peppy spin” on it and I wouldn’t just be an ordinary witch. I used to sometimes dress up as a witch – for halloween parties or at the shop – but I’d wear great boots, fishnet stockings and a short black skirt with a pointy hem. I don’t have boots, and don’t have my witches skirt anymore.
I was thinking of wearing one of my vintage 50s dresses with a crinoline, put an apron and pearls on and go as a Stepford Wife, or a Desperate Housewife, or something like that. Maybe Leave it to Beaver's mother? Mrs. Cleaver!
Any suggestions? I don’t want to spend any money, except I was thinking maybe I’d buy a wig. The witch costume came with a black wig with a few white streaks, but it doesn’t do anything for me!

Peppy,
Go for the '50's housewife look. A sexy June Cleaver. And while were on the subject, why did Wally and the Beaver spend so much time in their room? Didn't they ever hang out in the living room , kitchen or watch TV. What the hell?

A 50's or early 60's housewife sounds great, wear pearls around your neck like Donna Reed or June Cleaver. Show up with a tray of fresh baked cookies just like they did all the time.;o)
