I woke up early enough to hit STARBUCKS before work, so you know I started off the day right!
It’s gotten REALLY slow in the office and there’s another temp working with me, so there’s really not much to do. Because of that, I’ve gotten a lot of filing done in the past few days, which is really great. Today, I was over at an empty desk looking for something. This guy used to sit there, but he left in the Spring. I’ve noticed it’s a mess before, but today I finally had a chance to go through everything – all the drawers and cabinets, all the files and folders.
What a mess! I hate to be sexist, but only a guy could be such a disaster at keeping his desk organized. There were files from 2004 that just needed to be shredded, along with tons of supplies. He quit and left on good terms, so why didn’t he make sure everything was taken care of before he left, instead of leaving it all a big mess?
The girls in the group are SO busy that the last thing they have time to do is go through his desk and figure it all out. So, I did it today. I couldn’t make the call on what to keep, discard and shred, but I was able to put it all in piles and one of the girls looked through it all. Most of it was shredded or thrown away and a small pile was left for different people to look through, according to their responsibilities.
The desk looked great, and there was nothing hidden away that might be important. I did a lot of running around, bending, carrying, and cleaning, but I figured it was good exercise!
When I finished my appointment tonight I went to MICHAEL’S to pick up some craft supplies. Then, I came home, made a fast dinner of sardines (okay, I’m on a kick) and a veggie latke and watched STYLISTA, a new reality show about a bunch of kids vying for a job as an editorial assistant at ELLE magazine. It’s great already. A couple of bitches, a couple of bimbos – the usual suspects. It’s very THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, because the editor in chief – Anne Slowey – is a total dragon lady.
I’m really tired – I don’t know why, but maybe it was all the cleaning and organizing – and I’m going to bed early. I hope to watch UGLY BETTY before I fall asleep, but who knows? Tomorrow’s Friday, but I know I have to be up late tomorrow night and up early on Saturday, because the buyer is arriving at around 11:30pm on Friday and will sleep in the RV. He’s leaving very early on Saturday morning and I need to give him all the paperwork and a fast lesson on the workings of the interior before he goes.
Then, I’ll probably come upstairs and go back to sleep! I have a hair appointment at 4:00pm and those are the only plans I have for Saturday!
