Peppy Trains Another Temp

I woke up at 4:30am.  Don’t know why.  Can’t explain it.  Makes no sense.  Yet that’s what happened!  I tried to fall back to sleep and gave up completely at 5:00am.  I called Eric.  He was at work.  I’m always afraid to call him at work, because he could be up on the ladder and I don’t want him to fall off trying to get the phone out of his pocket real fast to answer it.

Eric never had a cell phone until we left New York, so this is a whole new thing for me, being able to call and talk to him whenever I like.  He’s so sweet, too, because every time we hang up he says, “You call me ANYTIME you like.”  So, since I couldn’t sleep and I knew it was 8:00am in NY, I decided to call and, as usual, he was glad to hear from me.

After I hung up, I turned on the TV and watched a little bit of THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES.  That’s the kind of thing you can find on TV at that hour.  The only other thing on are news programs and tons of PAID PROGRAMS selling who knows what.

I decided to go into the shower early, get out early, make a trip to the STARBUCKS drive-through and get to work early, so I could get some stuff done before the temp showed up.

I was at work by 7:30am.  One of the girls has a boyfriend who just returned home from Bahrain after a 173 day tour.  I know it’s 173 days, because she was counting down for SO long and it was SO exciting that he was finally coming home.  I couldn’t wait to see her this morning and ask her how her big reunion went.  She was SO happy – she was practically floating on air.

I enjoyed my STARBUCKS, had my cereal and read my work emails and then the temp was brought upstairs from HR.  She’s young, cute, a newlywed, and very sweet.  We had a good time.  It’s no fun being trained – you have to think so much all the time and really concentrate, and it’s just a little better training, because you have to talk so much and explain everything so concisely.  Now, I love to talk, but I’d much rather talk about stuff I’M interested in, rather than about this job.

Anyway, the morning flew by and I tried to show her as much as I could without overwhelming her.  I will do the same thing for 4 hours tomorrow, and then will only be called on an “as needed” basis.  So, starting Wednesday I’ll be in HR full time!

When I went down to HR I was surprised and pleased to see there wasn’t the usual 101 resumes emailed over the weekend.  For some strange reason there were only 30!  I got through them in no time and actually got to do some filing and shredding.  Soon enough it was 5:00pm.  It’s different driving by myself.  I’m used to doing it on Thursdays, but I really enjoy Elsa’s company and I miss her already!

I called Eric in the car on the drive home and we talked for a while.  I went straight to KEIL’S and did my food shopping before heading home.  I got my veggies and a few other things, including a pack of FRESCA Peach Citrus Sparkling Flavored Soda.  I bought it last time Jimmy came, because it’s a favorite of his, and I wanted him to have his favorite drink when he visits this weekend, too!  I’m so excited.  I’ve been cleaning (more than usual!) and getting everything in order for his arrival.

I watched DR. PHIL which was about “Extreme Spenders,” people who live off credit cards and have no savings in the bank.  I don’t know how people can live that way.  I am too much of a worrier to ever live beyond my means.

After that, I watched DANCING WITH THE STARS and got up to clean and organize on every single commercial.  Misty May-Trainer ruptured her achilles tendon, which I have heard is the most painful thing in the world.  I feel so bad, because she's such an amazing athlete and she ends up harming herself so badly she needs surgery, and what was she doing?  Dancing!

While I was watching TV I also spent a lot of quality time with Conrad.  He is the sweetest bird in the world – at least the sweetest bird I’ve had since Duke.  Duke was SO special and I never thought there would be another bird like him – until I met Conrad!  Tonight I was petting him on his back and, although I can see it makes him nervous, he doesn’t move, doesn’t bite, and doesn’t fly away.  He just sits there.  He chirps more when I leave the room, saying, “Where you going?  Come back!”  It’s the cutest!  I can’t wait for Jimmy to meet him!

Ginseng

I signed up for another yoga class tomorrow night at a different studio.  This time I’m going to a place in SOUTH PARK, right near THE BIG KITCHEN.  It’s called GINSENG YOGA and the class I’m taking Serenity Yoga, which offers a moving meditation that soothes body, mind and spirit. Its gentle flow provides a sanctuary from the stresses and demands of daily life. Linking postures with breath relaxes, restores, and creates inner peace, preparing you for a restful night. Rest your mind, open your heart and experience the Yoga of true serenity. All levels, including beginner.

Ginseng

I’m really looking forward to it.  That’s the kind of yoga I’m used to.  The kind that stretches you, calms you, strengthens you, and restores you.  I need some restoration!
