Serenity Yoga!

I started my day with a visit from the guy who is going to repair the frame on my Marilyn Monroe art.  He was really nice and promised me it would be as good as new.  I can’t wait.  I’m going to hang it above the couch when I get it back and take the three pieces now hanging there and put them around the apartment.  I’ve really missed Marilyn!

I was out of there by 7:15am, stopped to deposit my check at Citibank and then headed straight to work.  I just made my International Foods Mocha coffee this morning.  I added a little extra powder and it was better this time.  I always remember loving it and enjoying it so much, but it’s just not as good as STARBUCKS or the coffee cart!

I had a good day at work and had lunch with one of the girls I was working with upstairs on 6.  She’s the one who had a boyfriend in Bahrain for 173 days and he finally came back.  We went to a little Italian place called VILLA CAPRI, where Eric and I ate before the EARTH WIND & FIRE concert during the summer.  They have a nice lunch special and you get to pick a salad, entrée and they give you the thinnest, tiniest piece of bread pudding, which was perfect.

I had the Mozzarella Caprese – fresh organic tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, roasted bell peppers and and basil (fresh and delicious) and then had the ravioli with marjoram (I don’t even know what that is) and ricotta in a light tomato sauce.

My friend had the carpaccio with shaved parmesan cheese and spinach and gnocchi alla Tartufo – homemade potato dumplings served with truffle cream sauce, topped with shaved parmesan cheese.  It looked really delicious, but I’ve always found gnocchi to be a little too heavy.  I was right, because I ate my three ravioli and she took half her gnocchi home!

We had a nice time and it was great to get out of the office.   I only go out for lunch about once a month, so it’s a real treat!  Part of the reason is I try to brown bag it every single day and save money that way, but also there’s only one restaurant (the Mexican Tio Leo’s) that’s walking distance from the office.  The rest are a car drive, so it’s a real outing.  It’s not like Manhattan where you have your choice of 20 different restaurants in a 2 block radius!

I did a lot of filing all afternoon, and really felt like I was getting some exercise.  When I got home I took a nap from 5:30pm – 6:30pm, then jumped into my yoga clothes and headed to class in South Park.  I’m already finding that it’s getting easier to hold the poses for long periods and I am really enjoying it after just three classes.

The teacher is wonderful.  Tonight there were 5 guys in a class of about 12.  That’s a lot!  I think of Eric doing yoga and think it would be SO good for him, but I know he’d feel silly doing a lot of it, and he also has that bad knee injury, so a lot of the poses would be impossible for him.  Anyway, in the past I’ve shown him some poses he can do and I think it would be fun to do yoga with him, just to get him to stretch a little and relax and be one with his body!

When I got home I had edamame and two sardines from a big can).  I’m still trying to eat everything in the kitchen cabinets and I had a can of sardines in tomato sauce.  I really love sardines and (according to my Mom), they’re really healthy!

I watched THE BIGGEST LOSER.  It’s the half-way point in the show and they’re all so much healthier than when they started.  It’s amazing how much progress you can achieve in 6 weeks if you work out 8 hours a day!

I’m exhausted, so I’m going to go to bed early.  I want to stop at STARBUCKS tomorrow on my way to work, so I can’t snooze 2 or 3 times, like I usually do!
