Preparing For The Weekend!

So, I did my food shopping last night, and my laundry tonight, which means I don’t have to do either over the weekend, which is a great thing!

Tomorrow night my brother-in-law, Rich, is coming to sleep over.  I’m so excited.  I did three loads of laundry, washing all the linens and towels, so they’d be fresh for him.  I’m going to suggest he sleep in my bed, just like Jimmy, and I’ll sleep on the sleeper sofa.  It’s really comfy for me, and I think he’ll like the tempurpedic-style mattress.  Maybe he and Lenae will buy one!

So, I got my usual STARBUCKS (I know – I’m getting into a bad habit, but it’s really only until Elsa comes back, because then she’ll be driving again and my STARBUCKS mornings will be over!).  When I got to work, Rosemary was already there.  She brought in bagels and cream cheese and do you think I could resist?  Of course not.  At least it was light veggie cream cheese, but I had it on a sesame seed bagel and it was so good.  I should have toasted it – that would have made it even better, but I just sliced it, spread it and ate it!

I had a good day at work – nothing too exciting, but no emergencies either.  We had a couple of candidates come in for interviews and there was this kid (and I say that, because he was only 22 and he looked 16) I had to pick up from a conference room where he was interviewed and get some forms he had filled out and show him out.  Meanwhile, the “big boss” – meaning the man whose name the company bears – who started it all in 1974 – was having conferences in shifts in the big conference room, so that he could give his “state of the union” speech and let everyone know what the current economic crisis will mean to the firm.

I told the kid who was speaking and let him stop and look in (it’s all glass – walls and doors) so he could see “the man.”  He really is “the man.”  He’s at work every day, he’s a regular guy, and he’s brilliant, successful and knows how to run a company.  All his employees adore him.  That’s the measure of success, if you ask me.  Anyway, the kid was starstruck and who can blame him?

When I left work I went to my appointment and – as usual – it was helpful.  We always have a lot to discuss and she really knows how to get me thinking.  Sometimes I wish I could stop thinking.  My mind just spins and rambles and goes and goes and it’s hard to turn off.  I wake up every morning before the alarm – sometimes an hour; sometimes 15 minutes – and I spend that time trying NOT to think.  It’s REALLY hard.

My yoga instructor told us to meditate and use the mantra “I am.”  On every inhale say “I” and on every exhale say “am.”  I try, and try, and try to clear my mind, but it’s impossible.  Stuff keeps creeping in.

When I got home I immediately got the laundry together and did my three loads.  Then, I had some salad and the rest of the salmon.  I’ll never buy a steak like that again, because it was loaded with bones and you have to eat so carefully.  I’ll just stick to a filet from now on!

I watched TOP DESIGN from last night and then UGLY BETTY, which I just ADORE.  It’s such a great show.  It’s funny, yet touching, too, and the end tonight had me with tears in my eyes!

I have to get organized, because I have my craft stuff all over the dining room table (not that Rich would mind – he’s used to craft stuff everywhere, because my sister is VERY crafty!).  I just want the place to look its best, because I rarely have guests and here I am entertaining two weekends in a row!

I told my mother and we were laughing, because what are the neighbors going to think with these handsome men coming in and sleeping over?  I’ll be the talk of the complex!  My mother said I should find an old Jewish lady in the complex and tell her Jimmy’s just a friend and Rich is my brother-in-law and then she’ll tell the whole neighborhood and I won’t have to worry about a thing.  Actually, I couldn’t care less what anybody thinks, but it’s funny to think about, isn’t it?  I’ve always wanted to be scandalous!

So, Bob had his window treatments installed tonight and I can’t wait to hear how they look tomorrow.  I can still remember the fabrics and styles we chose and it should be fantastic.  I will get to see in a few weeks as he is having a party.  He doesn’t have much furniture, and not many places for people to sit, but the windows will look FABULOUS!
