A Better Day Today!

I spoke to my “guidance counselor” Jimmy this morning.  He gave me good advice about all my stress and anxiety.  What would I do without my Jimmy?  I also spoke to Eric a few times this morning.  He made me feel better, too – just talking to him always makes me feel better! I realize that I can’t sweat the small stuff. I managed to pack up a whole house and get it to San Diego just fine, so I can pack up a 2-bedroom apartment and get it to New York just fine.

I’m also not going to worry about work or unemployment.  Whatever happens, happens.  If I find work, great.  If not, I’ll get more done in the apartment, won’t I?

The one bad thing that happened today was that when I woke up at 6:30am because I had to blow my nose (big surprise), I pulled a muscle in my neck as I sat up.  Not good. It was the same thing that happened a month or two ago when I pulled a muscle turning off my alarm.  It seems when I first get up I pull muscles!  I managed to fall back to sleep and then took three Advils when I woke up again at 9:00am. I still feel it, but it’s manageable now and I think my yoga class tonight definitely helped.

After I got up, I had breakfast and then worked around the apartment.  I did an hour of typing on my project and then got dressed and went out at around 1:30pm. I drove to COSTCO, because I needed gas ($1.69 a gallon) and I wanted to buy strawberries for my chocolate-covered strawberries, which I am bringing to Bob’s party tomorrow night.

Well, I had a lovely lunch at COSTCO again – they DO serve the best samples – but they didn’t have any strawberries in the whole place!  I ended up getting a box of gum and a 12-piece spicy tuna roll.  That’s it!  When I was checking out I mentioned to the girl that there weren’t any strawberries and she suggested I go down the road to the fruit stand.  I have passed it many times, but never shopped there.  I thanked her and headed out.

I stopped at the fruit stand and they had the freshest, biggest strawberries -- $3.50 a tub or $9 for three tubs.  I got three and was on my way!  Next, I stopped at KEIL’S for chocolate chips.  COSTCO only had GIANT bags of semi-sweet chocolate chips and I need milk, semi-sweet and white, and I don’t need a GIANT bag, so I went to KEIL’S to pick that stuff up and then I headed back to the apartment to drop it all off.

Next, I headed to STARBUCKS and then drove to La Jolla for my Thursday appointment, which was on Tuesday this week, since Thursday is New Year’s Day.  Then, from there I headed to South Park for my yoga class.  It was the best class ever.  She never varies the class too much, or does anything really out of the ordinary, so you pretty much know what to expect, but this class was really serene and relaxing.  I loved it.

When I got home I had six of the sushi pieces and watched THE KENNEDY CENTER HONORS.  They honored Morgan Freeman (I LOVE him), Barbra Streisand, Roger Daltry and Pete Townshend, Twyla Tharp and George Jones.  I watched what I was interested in and fast-forwarded through the rest.

Tomorrow I am getting a manicure/pedicure and will make my chocolate-covered strawberries.  Then, I’ll be heading to Bob’s a little earlier, because I volunteered to help him set up.  I had asked him if he needed any serving platters or tablecloths, etc., and he said he didn’t really have anything (bachelors!).  So, I’ll go and make the place look pretty!  I’m really looking forward to it now.  I’m getting in a festive mood!

I probably won't blog tomorrow, but will do it on New Year's Day, so I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a HAPPY, HEALTHY NEW YEAR and, as I've been saying all month -- I wish you a 2009 that's simply divine!
