Okay, so maybe I wasn’t snoring (I’ve never been told I do), but I sure did sleep a lot last night!
I watched BABY MAMA last night, which was very cute. It’s funny, but more a story of a friendship between two women who would never be friends if fate didn’t bring them together. I didn’t know that Steve Martin or Greg Kinear were the other stars. They were never shown in any commercials for the film that I ever saw. Anyway, I did enjoy it!
I went to bed around 1:00am and set the alarm for 9:00am, so I could call Eric while he was at lunch. I did speak to him, and also blew my nose a lot (it was really running), but I fell back to sleep. I woke up to go to the bathroom, went back to sleep, and the next time I woke up it was 1:00pm!!!! Yes, I was in bed for 12 hours – and slept most of that time!
What’s up with that? I’m a little more congested today than I was yesterday, which troubles me. I don’t know what I’ve got, but I feel absolutely fine except for the coughing and congestion and the sleeping for 12 hours! I don’t feel like I have a cold, because as soon as I’m up and about the blowing and sneezing stops (as it does every morning). I also don’t think I have the flu or anything, because I feel absolutely fine other than the congestion. So, I spoke to “Dr. Jimmy” and he recommended lots of good stuff, including EMERGEN C (which I already have – it’s a powder you put in water with lots of Vitamin C in it. I believe Geri and Larry bought it for us when we left NY!).
I also have a tea for colds (which G&L also gave us). I’ve already been using both of these since I got back to SD, but Jim recommends adding DAYQUIL and NYQUIL, which I’m a big fan of myself! I’ll see how I feel after all that!
It’s the rainy season in San Diego and part of the reason I kept going back to bed each time I woke up is that I could hear it was pouring outside and knew I wasn’t going anywhere in that weather. When I finally got up and looked outside, the palm trees were blowin’ in the wind. I later saw on the news that there was a “severe storm warning.” I guess this is severe for San Diego! I would rather NOT have to go out in this weather, but they say it will last until Wednesday afternoon and I MUST do another couple loads of laundry.
I guess I can wait until Wednesday to run my errands and I’m going to see DANCING WITH THE STARS on tour on Wednesday night with Rosemary so I hope that (a) it stops raining and (b) I’m feeling better!
I cleaned Conrad’s entire cage today, which is always a traumatic event for him. He likes his cage and doesn’t like to leave and when I clean his cage I like to leave him in the bedroom (where he’s safe) while I take the cage completely apart, clean all the pieces, and put it back together again. He spent about 45 minutes sitting on the window sill in my bedroom, watching the rain.
It was very cute, until I tried to get him back in the cage. I had to grab him and he bit me. Boo hoo. I know he was scared, but it still made me sad that I scared him so much! He never bites. He never even pretends he’s going to bite (as some birds do). He’ll just move away from you if he’s scared, but I got him so stressed when I grabbed him and he was just trying to get away. My poor little Conrad Birdie!
While he was in the bedroom, sitting on the window sill, I also vacuumed the entire apartment. Then, when I got him in the cage in the dining room area, I vacuumed the entire bedroom. I am hoping I got the last of my long hairs out of the rug and off the floor. That’s one beautiful thing about having the short hair – no more of my hair all over the place. I shed like a dog! At least if there ARE hairs, they’re short little ones!
I had a big bowl of my vegetable soup for lunch. It just gets better and better every time you heat it up!
After my late lunch (which was about 4:00pm) I started working on my next craft project – a bejeweled mirror which was commissioned by the woman for whom I made the bejeweled hand mirror, the butterfly hand mirror and the yoga hand mirror with matching tray (for her daughter). This is a big undertaking, because it’s a large mirror, but I’m just doing the border around the mirror itself, and not the frame around that. So, it’s not THAT big. She also gave me all the jewelry to use (which is SO fabulous), so the only materials I’m using is my glue gun, and the rest is just labor!
It’s funny, because I can procrastinate on starting a project, but once I get started, it’s hard to stop! I know I’ll be able to finish it this week!
I watched ANTIQUES ROADSHOW, which was a special about 20 people who found something in the garbage, which turned out to be extremely valuable. Trash to treasure – I love that!
It finally stopped raining, so I brought down my garbage and recycling and then picked up my mail. I had a few birthday cards and a lot of Christmas cards. I was so touched to see I got three Christmas cards from regular customers who became friends. It is so nice that they still think of me – almost 2 years since my shop closed and a year-and-a-half since we left NY. These are people who I never really socialized with outside the shop, but who were regulars in Peppy’s Dream and who I was always happy to see.
So, tomorrow is my birthday and the only thing I have planned is – stay at home and work on the mirror project and then go to yoga. Wheee! Big night out! At least I’ll have a fun night out with Rosemary on Wednesday when we see DANCING WITH THE STARS! I’m very excited about that!
So, before I close I must show you a picture of my absolute favorite birthday card -- from Chicken of the Sea! I guess at some point in my life I must have signed up at their website and given them my birthdate. Anyway, it's a coupon -- for 25 cents off any one Chicken of the Sea product. Is that the best gift EVER or WHAT? Can you imagine their generousity? Not even a free can of tuna on my birthday (hey -- Cold Stone Creamery is giving me a free ice cream!). No, 25 cents off. Wow! Now THAT'S a birthday present!
