I had another pretty lazy morning. I spoke to Eric 3 times, watched TV, cleaned the apartment and worked on my typing project. I went out in the early afternoon to go food shopping. I might not have gone if I didn’t really need food, because it was surprisingly cold out in San Diego today. It was only 53 degrees and overcast, so I had to wear my brown fleece, which I bought in Sausalito. Okay, it’s not even really a jacket, but it WAS chilly out!
Eric had suggested I give one of my friends a call, to try to make plans for the weekend, so I called Rosemary and left a message. She called me back and we made plans to go see THE READER tomorrow. She’ll pick me up at 2:30pm for a late lunch/early dinner, and then we’ll go see the movie at 4:30pm. Afterwards, I invited her back to see the apartment.
Once I hung up with her I knew I had my work cut out for me. The apartment is clean, it always is, but I have been packing and unpacking boxes and there was stuff all over the living room floor! I had four boxes completely re-packed and ready to tape up. I made a new list of boxes and wrote exactly what is in each one. Then, I put them back in a hall closet where they were before. I won’t have to take them out again until it’s time for them to leave!
I organized the rest of the stuff, either putting it in the back room (which is always a disaster) or making it look nice and neat in the living room. I store a lot of stuff in decorative wicker suitcases and have about 8 of them, which are all filled and ready to be put into a big box. I just need the big box so, until then, they look great and I don’t need to move them.
I put away all my craft supplies, even though I probably will be decoupaging next week. I usually keep a drop cloth on the floor and two drop cloths on the table, so it’s always ready for me to work. I picked them all up and put everything neatly away. It’s fast to set up again, and I want everything to look nice for Rosemary!
Tomorrow I will organize my desk, clean Conrad’s cage, vacuum and dust. I’m really happy, because I was just talking about the fact that not many people have been here to see the apartment and I’m glad Rosemary will see it before it’s all packed away.
I’m going to try to get to sleep at a decent hour, so I can get up early and get everything done before she picks me up. I’d like to do a load of laundry, too. Lots to do. There’s nothing like company to get you moving and cleaning. Eric and I always used to say that the house never looked better than when we were having company!
It’s not that I let the place get dirty, but I am perfectly capable of letting 5 or 6 pair of shoes hang out by the door, or letting papers build up on my desk until it’s a total mess. Sometimes having a friend over is the perfect motivation to get you to do all the little things you put off on a day-to-day basis.
So, having plans for tomorrow kept me busy today. It made the day fly by and I never had time to take a nap!
