Today was the first day in weeks that I didn’t have to blow my nose over and over. That’s not to say I didn’t blow my nose at all, but it was definitely a lot less and less frequently. I took NYQUIL last night, which made me sleep very well and have some weird dreams.
I told Eric this morning, when I woke up at 9:00am and called him, that I dreamt I went back in time – to the early 1960s. I was with a bunch of women, waiting on a line for something, and I felt compelled to tell them what was going to happen in the future – but not WAY in the future – just their immediate future. I told them that Jackie Kennedy would make the Chanel suit and pillbox hat very big while she was in the White House. What’s up with THAT? Where do I get this stuff?
Then, in another part of the same dream, I was temping. Temping in the past! I had a boss who was wearing this loud, green paisley brocade jacket with shiny lapels. He looked like he was about to do an act in Vegas. I was sitting with another girl and she was punching out these cards, folding them along perforated lines. I asked her what they were and she told me they were for a Rolodex. I wanted to tell her that in a few years a Rolodex would be obsolete, because everyone would keep all their information on the computer, or in their cell phones, but I kept that information to myself. Again – how do I come up with this stuff?
Anyway, when I finally woke up, it was a gorgeous day in San Diego, so when I got up I decided to take my little cart and go food shopping. I walked there and back and it was so nice out that I only wore a t-shirt. Fabulous! I got a 12-pack of SNAPPLE (yay!) and a new 60 calorie, sugar free Jello pudding called Dulce de Leche. It’s really good and only 60 calories per serving! I usually have the Dark Chocolate, but I saw this and decided to try something new. You know I’m a Chocoholic, but this is a nice change!
My favorite cereal was on sale -- Special K Chocolately Delight -- 80 cents off -- so I bought FOUR boxes! That should last me a while!
When I got back I put the food away and then walked to STARBUCKS. I got a sugar free Cinnamon Dolce non-fat latte, which is less fattening, but I just didn’t enjoy it as much as the Mocha. I don’t think I’ll get it again. I figure if I’m going to walk all the way there to get it, I’m going to enjoy it!
I walked back to the apartment. In all, I walked 9,173 steps today. Over 5,000 were aerobic steps (which means I was walking at a fast pace, instead of just walking). I burned 206 calories and the walk totaled 3.32 miles. They say if you want to lose weight you have to walk over 10,000 steps a day, unless you have some other form of exercise.
I DID have my yoga class tonight, so I figure I must have burned a few calories there. There were 19 people in the class tonight – the most I’ve ever seen. This class is extremely popular, because the teacher is so great and the class is so enjoyable. Tonight, my mat was next to a little girl. She couldn’t have been more than 10. She was so cute. I wish I could have taken yoga with my mom when I was young!
When I got home I watched the season premiere of THE BIGGEST LOSER. Then I watched a PRIMETIME show called WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Now that the holidays are over there is a lot more to watch on TV. That’s good and bad. Good, because I love TV, but bad because I have so much else to do and I’m easily distracted by a good TV show and you know how I love Reality TV!
I’m determined to start going to sleep earlier (than my usual 1:00-2:00am) and wake up earlier (actually get up at 9:00am, instead of going back to sleep after I talk to Eric!). I am SO afraid that I’ll get a call about a job and be totally unprepared for the early hours and long days. I’ve gotten VERY lazy over the last six weeks. It doesn’t take long for your body to completely forget the schedule it was on for 10 months.
I only have about 20 pages left on my typing project, so I know I’ll be done by the end of this week. That means that it would be perfect timing for one of the agencies to call with temp work for next week. I just have to keep my fingers crossed and follow up with them.
Eric is actually hoping that I won’t go back to work and will, therefore, be able to pack up quicker and come back sooner. It sounds good in theory, but I would feel guilty not working from now until I went back to NY. I just think it’s important to have money coming in from both of us, since we’re now paying two rents.
It would definitely help if I was on unemployment, but I still don’t know how that will work out. I really would like to go back to work for the firm I was working for. That would be the best case scenario, but I don’t know if or when they’ll need me again. In the meantime, I just have to get all my projects finished, so if I DO go back to work soon, I won’t have anything else to worry about!
