I woke up around 9:00am and called Eric. He had just finished a fast ride in Cunningham Park and was hanging out at “the shop,” which is the bicycle shop he used to co-own, which is still a great success after 10 years.
I called Rosemary at around 11:30am to find out if she was feeling up to going to a movie. She said she was much better, so we made plans for her to pick me up at 2:30pm and we would go out to eat and then see THE READER at 4:20pm.
We went to a shopping center in La Jolla and ate at a place called BJ’s which, unlike the discount warehouse store in NY, is a great pizza place known for their deep dish pizzas.
We shared a salad and a Spinach and Artichoke deep dish pizza, which was really amazingly delicious. We each took a piece home to have for lunch tomorrow!
THE READER is an amazing movie which takes place in a period of time between 1959 and 1995 in Germany. It is about a relationship a young boy (15) has with an older woman (Kate Winslet). It was beautifully filmed, and the acting was wonderful. There is a young man who plays Michael as a boy (David Kross), and Ralph Fiennes plays him as a man. I highly recommend it!
After the movies, we drove back to Clairemont, went through the STARBUCKS drive-through and then came back to the apartment. I gave Rosemary the 5 cent tour, and then we just talked about the movie, and decorating. Rosemary loved the apartment and all my knick-knacks, the artwork, all the shelves Eric hung, and the apartment itself.
She was impressed with the size of the rooms (they ARE big!) and loved the way I have it decorated. I told her I was happy she got to see it, before it’s all packed up and gone. This is a great apartment and I hope Eric and I can find something similar in Queens when I get back in the spring.
After Rosemary left I worked on my typing project. I felt kind of guilty, because I didn’t work on it all weekend. There’s no rush on the project, but I feel like I can’t start my craft project until the typing is done, and I DO want to get to the decoupaged box I am commissioned to make, so I need to finish typing!
I’m half hoping/half dreading getting a call from the agencies this week. I do want to go back to work, but not before I finish all my projects! I must get busy this week, in case they really do call!
