I know, I’m obsessed, but this is important to Stacie, so it’s important to me!
I didn’t do much more this morning than vote, vote, vote, over and over. The deadline for the first “voting window” to decide the Top 20 Participant Videos ends tomorrow at noon. Then, if she gets into the top 20, we vote for the Top 10 until 1/30/09. Then, if she gets into the top 10, we vote for the Top 3 until 2/6/09. Then, if she gets into the top 3, we vote to decide the Grand Prize Winner who gets $5,000 and that ends on 2/9/09.
I know, I know, that’s a lot of voting! It’s just that I’ve watched so many of the other videos and none of them is NEARLY as good as Stacie’s, and we’re all doing this – all the HR girls, and lots of the girls in the office, and all their friends and family. All the girls from work who are on Facebook are talking about it and it’s very exciting. I figure staying on the computer for hours at a time clicking “vote” and “refresh” is the least I can do for a friend!
So, I finally left the house at 2:00pm. I went to COSTCO to get gas ($1.99 a gallon) and then drove to Del Mar to give Kristin her box and visit the HR girls. I’ve put pictures on my crafts blog and you can check it out by clicking here: www.peppysdream.com/craftsblog.
Everyone in the office LOVED the box and I even got another job! One of the other girls wants me to make a similar box for her sister’s 40th birthday in March! I knew I’d get more work when the girls saw how great it came out!
After I spent an hour talking and laughing with the girls (just like old times), I left to go shopping and kill some time before my appointment at 5:00pm. I spoke to my friend, Robin, on the phone. We’re both so excited about her impending visit (in 2 weeks!) and we’ve got a million plans. I scheduled massages for both of us for Saturday afternoon (she’s arriving on Friday night).
I also spoke to Eric for a while. I told him that I called the moving company today and they're going to email me the contract. The good thing is that when Eric was moving the guy came to estimate the cost and he did an estimate of the stuff that I'd be shipping back, so he doesn't even need to come here! He also told me the rates go up after May 15th (it's more expensive to move in the Spring/Summer), but I told him I'd definitely be moving back before then. It's exciting to have the ball rolling and start planning my return to New York!
After I hung up with Eric I drove to a shopping center right nearby my appointment and went into MARSHALL’S. I swear, that’s the first time I was ever in that store in my entire life. I really liked it! They have a lot of cute decorative stuff. I actually found a box to decoupage, which was a really pretty laquered box, but it was chipped in a few places. It was marked $12.99, but there was a 15% off Customer Appreciation sale going on. I figured I could probably get a little more off, because it was damaged. It ended up the manager gave it to me for $8 ($5 off!), plus the 15% discount, so – with tax – it ended up costing me $7.33. I was thrilled!
I’m not sure what I’ll do with it yet, but I figure I’ll show it to Michelle to see if she wants it for her sister. I’d much rather do that box than another photo box, because the photo box was actually very difficult to work with, but this is real wood and would be a lot harder to put feet on, without Eric to drill through for me. The cardboard box was very easy to poke holes through for the screws, nuts and washers.
After my appointment I came home and made a big salad with spinach, avocado, tomatoes, snap peas, croutons, and salmon I cooked yesterday. I actually make enough for 3 or 4 meals, and just portion out what I want. It’s easier than making a fresh salad every single time and it keeps for 2-3 days.
While I was eating, I voted. Then, I just sat and voted. Then, I watched a little TV and then I voted. Then, I watched UGLY BETTY and then I voted. It’s now almost 11:00pm and I’ve been voting on and off all day long. I’m REALLY hoping that she makes it into the top 20. If she does, I’ll be at this for a few more days, at least. If not, well, at least I’ll know I tried!!!!
