I didn’t leave the apartment until almost 3:00pm today. It’s getting harder and harder for me to get going in the morning. I wake up the same time, or earlier, every single day, but then I just hang around the apartment, cleaning, working on the computer, watching pre-recorded marathons of AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL and keeping Conrad company.
It’s not like I have an excuse for being such a hermit. It was 75 degrees out today and you’d think, knowing that next February I’m going to be in freezing cold New York, I’d take advantage and spend every waking hour on the Streets of San Diego!
If someone invites me out to lunch, or if I have any kind of real errand to run (post office, or I need something from the craft store), I can get up and go. Otherwise, I find myself procrastinating a LOT. It really bothers me, because my days here are numbered and I really want to take advantage of everything there is to offer here.
That’s why I’m so happy Robin is coming this Friday. Being with her for a week will get me up and out early and I’m sure we’ll be running around all week long. It will be good for me.

I decided to go walking, but decided not to just walk along Clairemont Drive, because that’s already getting old. So, I drove through Starbucks, visited a HALLMARK store to buy a few birthday cards, stopped into a fabric store, just to browse, and then headed to Balboa Park.

It was such a glorious day and the park was pretty crowded for a Monday afternoon. There was a big tour bus and lots of people walking around with cameras taking pictures. I guess I looked like a tourist, because I also had my camera and took a lot of pictures.

The architecture at Balboa Park is just magnificent. Most everything there was built between 1900 – 1925 and it is very ornate. The park is kept in perfect, meticulous condition. There is no litter.
This guy was just sitting on a bench playing his sax. The interesting thing was the song he was playing: The theme to the TV show THE ODD COUPLE! I could hear it, and recognized it, long before I actually saw him. The song choice struck me as SO funny! He had a music stand and I could read the words "THE ODD COUPLE" on the music. I wonder if he's learning it for some production somewhere!

The landscaping is fabulous and, even in early February, there are lots of flowers to admire.
I didn’t visit any museums or other attractions, because I want to wait for Robin, so I just walked and walked and took a lot of pictures.
This is a picture of a metal grate that surrounds each tree in the park. I thought it was so art-deco and so beautiful that I just had to photograph it!

I walked around for over an hour and then headed back to the car. When I got back to the apartment I cooked a piece of salmon and made a big salad. I didn’t take a nap today, even though I felt like I could. I just worked on the computer and watched TV, talked to Eric, and filled out my birthday cards. I am going to try to get to sleep at a decent hour tonight, since I didn’t take a nap. We’ll see how that turns out!
