I woke up at 9:00am, called Eric, and then got right into the shower, because I had to run a few errands before I picked up Tifney for lunch at 11:30am. I went to Starbucks, because one of the guys there had told me that they would save me some big boxes, but when I went in there today, they told me they didn’t have any.
I decided to head to Del Mar and go to one of the shopping centers right by the office. I went into VONS, which is a big supermarket chain. Unfortunately, they didn’t have any big boxes, but they did give me two big “TROUT Washington Apples from Lake Chelan.” Can someone PLEASE explain to me why apples would be called TROUT? And the logo is a big fish! Weird!
Anyway, after that I went to pick up Tifney and she treated me to lunch at Soup Plantation. We each had a salad from the salad bar, and then a cup of soup (I had tomato; she had chicken noodle). I also had a little four cheese pasta and some Asiago bread. I really went crazy with the carbs today!
For dessert they had sugar free chocolate mousse, which was really delicious. Wish I had a big bowl right now, as I’m typing this!
It was great to see Tifney. She always has a lot of great stories to tell and she’s really funny. After I dropped Tif back at work I drove through Starbucks (I didn’t get coffee last time – I only went in for boxes) and then I came home and brought my two TROUT boxes upstairs.
I proceeded to pack them along with four other small boxes – six in all – filled with tins and craft stuff. All of them will be put into storage, because I don’t anticipate doing any crafting for a while when I get back.
I still have about 2 more boxes worth of tins and jewelry mosaics material and then I’ll have 3 or 4 boxes at least of my decoupage papers. I have a ridiculous amount of arts and crafts supplies and I need every single piece!
In the late afternoon I wanted to relax and watch some TV, but I really had nothing interesting to watch, so I turned to PAY-PER-VIEW to see if there was a comedy I hadn’t yet seen. Instead, I saw that PRIDE AND GLORY was on. This was the good cop/bad cop film starring Colin Farrell, Ed Norton and Jon Voight that was filmed in NY – partly on Leggett Place in Whitestone, right across the street from our house.
They filmed on Leggett Place for about 2 weeks. It was supposed to be the block where Colin Farrell’s character lived with his wife, played by Lake Bell. They did a lot of interior shots, a few backyard scenes, and a lot of scenes in the front of house, including a big fight at nigjt between Ed and Colin.
I would say that the two weeks of filming turned into two minutes of actual screen time on Leggett Place. I never saw my house for one second, and I know there’s a lot of film left on the cutting room floor, because they didn’t do one scene in the front of the house. There was one scene in the backyard where I could clearly see Kaja’s house, and then one scene where I could clearly see Ruby’s house (which was next door to ours), but our house – nowhere!
The movie was very hard hitting, violent, and depressing. I’ve seen a lot of those recently! Colin was a bad cop married to Ed Norton’s sister. He and his brother were also cops, as well as their father, Jon Voight. It’s all about how cops protect each other and don’t tell on each other, even when they are very bad – and Colin Farrell is a VERY bad cop!
This movie was only in the theatre for about a week, and now it’s out on DVD and on PAY-PER-VIEW. If you like violent cop films, I suggest you rent it!
I was exhausted from all the packing I did today, and I did the exact same thing I did last night. I fell asleep at 9:00pm and woke up at 11:00pm! I cannot believe how completely insane my sleeping habits have become. If I had a job, I’d be in big trouble. I told Eric that when I get back to NY I’ll be DVRing all my TV shows and going to bed at 9:00pm with him every night. I want to get back into a normal sleeping routine. I’ve never been able to go to bed early and wake up early, but I’m sure going to try, because I think it’s important that I don’t screw up Eric’s schedule, since he’s the one that’s working!
Tomorrow I intend to go to the Arts & Crafts show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. It’s the same location where I attended the Antiques and Collectibles show last month. It should be really fun!
Then, I’m meeting Rosemary for dinner and a movie. So, I don’t expect to get much packing done tomorrow. That’s okay, I’ve already made quite a dent and I deserve a day off!
I want to close this entry by saying that I have not been this happy in a long time. I'm feeling so light-hearted, so excited about my imminent return to NY, so overjoyed about my reunion with Eric in just 3 weeks. Eric and I have been through a lot in the last year, but I think we would both say it has been well worth it. I cannot wait to come back to NY, get settled with Eric, and then celebrate with all my friends who have been waiting so patiently for my return. I love you all!
