Just Another Day Of -- You Guessed It -- Packing!

I woke up at 9:00am to call Eric, but then I fell back to sleep and had the WEIRDEST dreams.  I woke up again around 11:00am and by the time I had breakfast and showered, it was after noon!

I started two loads of laundry and drove to Starbucks.  I also picked up my dry cleaning (one black cardigan) and went to KEIL’S for the first time in almost a month!  I just wanted to pick up some veggies to make a big salad.  Haven’t had one of those in a while!  I also bought some Chocolate-Caramel non-dairy creamer, so I can use up the rest of the decaf Starbucks coffee I have in the apartment.

I did a LOT of packing today.  I feel like I really accomplished a LOT.  I took the two round glass-top tables with fabric we used as night tables and washed the fabric rounds in the laundry, because I’m going to sell the tables at the garage sale.  We’ve used them for a LONG time, but we didn’t need extra storage since we had a HUGE closet in our master bedroom in Whitestone.

Now, since we’ll be living in smaller quarters with less luxurious storage options, it will be important to have more storage, and night tables with drawers are a great way to accomplish that.  So, I can use my folding snack tables until I find something back in NY.

I vacuumed the entire bedroom, once I got the round tables out, and then I put a folding snack tray on just my side.  Conrad is on another snack tray, and I have one snack tray in the living room as an end table, with one lamp on it by my desk.  The bedroom is getting emptier and emptier!  There aren't many clothes left in the closet, the vanity's all packed up, except for my everyday makeup and the two lamps, the art is off the walls, as well as my pin and earring boards, and most of the shelves are down, too.

Next I packed a few big boxes.  They always tell you to pack the small boxes with heavy stuff and the bigger boxes with lighter stuff, but what happens when you have big heavy stuff that will only fit in a big box?  Well, I packed three big moving boxes and the movers are going to hate me, because they weigh a ton!

I watched a lot of decorating shows today and worked during each of the commercials.  There’s nothing on tonight, since MONK and GHOST WHISPERER are both on hiatus (boo hoo), so I caught up on shows I had recorded and not yet watched.  I watched HEROES.  It was really good, even though my two favorite characters – Sylar and Claire – weren’t in this episode at all!

I am going to bed early tonight (or at least I’m going to try), because I’m picking up Marti at 8:30am tomorrow (which is VERY early for me – especially on a Saturday) and we’re going to see Judy, the Beauty, on Duty at THE BIG KITCHEN.  I know Marti’s going to love it and I can’t wait to have my grilled cheese with tuna – for the last time (another boo hoo).

Then, in the afternoon, Elsa is coming to pick up the planters I have outside on the balcony.  I knew I wasn’t taking them back to NY, and she and her husband just redid their whole backyard.  I think they’re really pretty and will add a lot to their décor.  I’m going to follow her back to her house (a few miles away), so I can see all the work they’ve done and help her put out the planters.  Elsa has been very kind to me, and a good friend since I met her over a year ago.  I feel it’s the least I can do to thank her for her friendship.

Those are the only plans I have for the entire weekend, but I DO want to get a lot more packing done.  I will be “out and about” a lot next week and in Los Angeles for 3 days next weekend, and I’d like to have the bulk of the packing done before I leave for L.A.  I should be able to do it all, except for the things I’ll need right up until the last day.  I can’t wait.  I’m just glad I’ll have Eric to help me unpack it all when it gets to NY!
