More Unscrewing and Spackling -- Less Packing!

I woke up at the alarm this morning and called Eric.  It’s a good thing, too, because he didn’t even know it was lunch and he would have worked right through it!  After we hung up I just relaxed in bed and watched some TV.  I know I’ve mentioned this show – Peter Perfect – a reality show starring Beverly Hills hair dresser and fabulous diva Peter Ishkhans.

I've got a BIG crush on this guy -- Peter Ishkhans:Peter

I am so in love with him that if I wasn’t happily married and he wasn’t a gay flame, I might just have to drive to Beverly Hills and propose!  He is the sweetest, cutest, funniest, most full-of-energy, inspirational person I have ever seen on TV!  And you all know how much TV I watch!

There must have been a marathon of PETER PERFECT on the STYLE network and I recorded about 5 episodes I had never seen.  As I’ve mentioned before, he goes around (mostly California) helping out businesses that are failing for one reason or another.  He’s done make-overs on hair salons, coffee houses, bridal boutiques, candy shops, and clothing stores, amongst many others.

He’s so sweet.  Every single person he helps falls madly in love with him.  You’ve never seen so much hugging going on by any host.  And you can see he means it.  He’s got this fabulous English accent, so when he complains about the mess, he calls it “clu-a” (that’s “clutter” for the rest of us!).  He’s like a cross between Peter Pan and Prince.

I wish I knew he was in his shop every day, because I would go there in a few weeks when I visit L.A. and meet him, but I’m sure he’s not working day-to-day in the salon anymore, since he’s such a big TV star!

Anyway, back to reality -- I mean REAL reality, not reality TV!  I didn’t do any packing today, but I took all the tins off all the high shelves in the bedroom, vacuumed and wiped them down and stacked them for packing in the dining area.  I then took more shelves down, but there are four I can’t manage, so I’m going to have to get help.

At this point, the living room and dining room is so packed with stuff that needs to be packed.  It’s a disaster, but I’ve got a path to the kitchen and to the computer and that’s really all I need!

I was freaking Conrad out so much that I had to move him to the living room for a while, because he doesn’t like it when I go on the step stool.  Go figure!

In the afternoon I went out and went to different stores, trying to get big boxes.  I have plenty of small boxes, but I do have a lot of over-sized items.  I tried KEIL’S, but they just gave me two small boxes and I didn’t want to complain, so I took them.  I tried RITE-AID, but they told me they break them down immediately.   Next, I went into STARBUCKS, instead of driving through.

They were all in a tizzy, because they’re not used to seeing my whole body .  They usually just see me from the waist up in the car!  They didn’t have any big boxes, but promised to save some for me and I have to go tomorrow morning to pick them up.

Next, I drove to the shopping center near my 5:15pm appointment in La Jolla.  I needed to go to STAPLES to get more packing tape, and I was also able to get two big boxes.  Woo hoo!  The woman who works there is SO nice.  They had two big boxes in the front of the store and I asked her if she had more like that.  She said no, but then asked one of the workers to empty the boxes (there was 8 plastic storage crates in each one, so it was very fast).  I bought the packing tape and took the two big boxes and was on my way.

After my appointment I headed home and brought the four boxes I got (two big and two small) up to the apartment.   I worked on the computer, watched more PETER PERFECT and DIVINE DESIGN and had dinner (MAC & CHEESE).  I have to go to KEIL’S tomorrow and buy some salad stuff, because I’ve been living on carbs for the past week and although it tastes great, it’s NOT good for “my figgur” (as Peter would say!).

I was about to watch UGLY BETTY at 9:00pm, but my eyes were closing, so I decided to go to sleep.  I knew when I turned out the light that it wasn’t for the night.  I just can’t go to sleep early and sleep through the night.  It’s impossible.  Just as I thought, I woke up at 11:08pm.  I turned over and tried to go back to sleep, but my body is very used to 2-hour naps, so it wasn’t happening.

I hadn’t yet blogged, so I got up, worked on the computer, blogged, and now I’ll go back into bed and watch TV until 2:00am – as I usually do.  I thought maybe – just maybe – because I’ve been working so hard all day – packing, spackling, unscrewing shelves, up and down the step stool, arranging, organizing, etc., that I would be tired enough to sleep through the night, but it just isn’t the way my body works!

I hope I can fall back to sleep at a decent time tonight, because I’m having lunch with Tifney tomorrow and I have to pick her up at 11:30am!
